Argonaut Hotel

The best hotel ever, they’re really nice, everything is very clean, everything is really awesome. It has a great location, a great service, etc. I would come back every time. They treat you really well and I recommend this for everyone, family’s, partners,friends trip, etc. i promise you will want to come back again It’s AWESOME. I want to give a shoutout to Stephanie G, you guys should give her a raise, she always has a great attitude, is REALLY nice, etc. I’m proud to say in here I had one of the BEST stays of my life.

Great hotel, could be better. Amazing and surprisingly quiet location in a very picturesque place right on water line, beautiful view of Alcatraz and Golden Gate Bridge from the marina park across the street, nice stylish interior, clean room, good service, good restaurant downstairs. However, something like shower is an important part of the experience, and the shower was not great, the water pressure was low, the shower head had only one setting, and there was no handheld shower. So, giving 4 stars.

Everything was handled beautifully for a family wedding. Terrific service all around but in particular Nils at the front desk was a godsend.

Exceptional stay ! We typically stay at the Fairmont Hotels , but this may have topped our experiences there ! Best front of house service and even a system to return things we leery behind :) . Great food and cold beer at the chowder house also.

We had a 3 night stay here in November and loved it. Location is really, really, fantastic and the hotel is clean, modern, well maintained and vibrant. Staff were friendly and helpful, on site restaurant fantastic too.

Not only is this just a lovely and clean hotel to stay at, but what made this an above-average experience was the hotel staff. Each person I interacted with was personable and helpful. In particular, shoutouts to Isaac and Jacob the front desk staff. They helped to make my days better.

I am not one to write reviews but our experience at this hotel was so poor that I feel compelled to let others know. It started as we pulled up at the hotel to be told by the bellman that we had parked in the wrong direction and needed to move the car before they could valet park it. We were told later that it was a safety issue, which is fair enough; but the way in which that message was delivered could have been better. Valet parking - that’s a story in itself. $85 dollars a night plus tax and expected tip. We discovered the following morning that they park the cars in a pubic car park in the block immediately behind the hotel, where you can drive in and park for $50 a day. That was the first example of feeling like we were being ripped off but there are more. An extra $35 plus tax plus tip per day adds up over three days. I got to check in to be spoken to rather abruptly by the lady behind the desk. We got to our room (a suite) to find the sofa bed has not been made up for the children (it was gone 9pm) and a welcome note was addressed to someone completely different. There was also a stuffed Teddy on the bed wrapped in plastic with a $20 price tag. I thought that was odd. The items at the mini bar were over priced (I know that is standard) and a bottle of water (500 ml) was $5.50. One feels the hotel is trying to make money at every turn. We then had to ask for someone to come and make up the sofa bed, only for a man (clearly not usually in housekeeping) to bring us some crumpled sheets (I still wonder if they were clean - they certainly were not ironed) which he dumped on the bed. Not quite the service we expected. We called down to complain about our arrival experience in general but very little was done. We were told we would receive an email from the Manager the following morning. No email arrived. He did call when we got back and offered to waive the resort fee which was something, not that that was honoured on our departure. It really was not about the money - we just wanted to be welcomed into the hotel as we had been in every other establishment in California. We couldn’t have felt less welcome. We also gave the hotel ample opportunities to rectify issues, but, save from waiving a resort fee (which became another fight in itself on departure) nothing changed. We had more problems when we tried to retrieve our car from the valet so that we could repark it in the same car park ourselves for a much reduced fee. The recall service advertised on the ticket you receive when you drop off the keys doesn’t work for international visitors - not that you are told that. So we were hanging around for ages before our car arrived and then blamed when we went down to collect the car. Poor customer service yet again. The worst experience, though was at check out. First, the waiver of the resort fee was not honoured, second, we were charged for a second night of parking which we did not use, and third, we were told at check in that we had $15 per person per day to use in the restaurant. We wouldn’t have used the restaurant at all but did given the discount, only to be told and check out that it was $15 per room per day. So beware when you check in to confirm the deal. Noone was able to deal with the problems with the bill because the manager was not contactable until 11 am that morning. I have never known a hotel where there wasn’t someone around who was authorised to deal with bill issues. We therefore left, asking that the revised bill was confirmed with us before it was charged, only to then be charged with the incorrect bill. We then had to spend much of the next two days arguing about the incorrect bill over email. It was eventually dealt with, but we should not have had to spend hours in a day of our holiday arguing when the hotel was so clearly wrong. Apologies were pretty limited. As for the restaurant, we had quite a good dinner but the service at breakfast was very poor. It took a long time to be served and our orders were then wrong and had to be corrected. The waitress could have benefited from a trip to charm school. It was very expensive for what it was. All in all, customer service was so disappointing and that goes for pretty much everyone in the hotel. There was one lady in reception who was kind to our son - thank you Sharon. If you are looking for a hotel with good customer service (which appears to be the norm in California given our two week experience here) I would not recommend this hotel. It was the only time during our whole trip that we were made to feel unwelcome and felt poorly treated. I would also really question the area - if you want to stay in tourist central (think of a downmarket Leicester Square) great, and it does make getting to Alcatraz and the Golden Bridge pretty easy, but if you are after a more authentic San Fran experience, keep away from Fisherman’s Wharf. The Waymos are very reliable so you could easily stay in a hotel

We recently stayed at the Argonaut Hotel and had a wonderful visit. The location is genuinely fantastic, right on Fisherman’s Wharf, with the Bay on your doorstep and all of San Francisco’s highlights just a stroll or short cable car ride away. It truly made our trip, and we loved being able to walk out each morning and be right in the heart of the action. Breakfast was excellent too, great quality, generous portions, and friendly service that set us up perfectly for the day ahead. Our room was comfortable and had a charming character to it, though slightly darker than we anticipated and with a few signs of its vintage style. We also had a bit of noise from neighbouring rooms at times, but nothing that stopped us enjoying our stay. Overall, the location and hospitality here really shine, and we left with brilliant memories of our time in San Francisco. We’d happily recommend the Argonaut as an ideal base for discovering this wonderful city.

The Argonaut was perfect for my short stay in SF. I’ll definitely be back!
