Crown Hotel Stamford

One of the best places we have visited in the UK. Great atmosphere, lovely people, beautiful property and tasty food. Would love to visit again soon!

Second wonderful stay at the Crown - Fantastic room with rolltop bath, separate shower, lovely big comfortable bed and plenty of space. Very welcoming and friendly staff but beware the stairs! Right in the centre of this beautiful old market town with numerous independent shops, restaurants and pubs, so we'll definitely be back...

What a fabulous hotel. Not big flash and glitzy but warm , comfortable and exceptionally well run and maintained. Staff are top notch and treat you like old friends as did the owner and his partner having made themselves known to us. Outside space equally as well presented and maintained. Super bedroom large well appointed bathroom with free standing bath and large walk in shower. Breakfast cooked to order with plenty of choice and excellent coffee. Make sure you obtain the post code for car park - it’s tucked away! Can’t wait to find an excuse to return

Booked this hotel as its advertised as pet friendly however we were offered 1 room that is pet friendly with no shower. Very disappointing as it rated fabulous and it may be but not for people with pets. Cancelled and booked another hotel in Stamford

Had a lovely few days at the Crown, friendly, attentive staff. Would certainly recommend to others.

Another lovely sleep, bed wonderful, has a large bath that overlooks the street which was enjoyed, lightbulb in toilet was not working to which they fixed immediately. Totally relaxed and enjoyed our night, very busy and buzzy in the bar early evening, and had a good vibe about it. Disappointing part was breakfast which previously we had thought great, but this time, plate served not warm, food was also not that hot, had already waited a while so we didn't want to wait more, so continued to eat, and no one really around to pay attention to situation, sorry but a grilled tomato has to be at least shown signs of being cooked and not as if raw, the toast was served on the plate and already buttered, so now soggy floppy toast, the bacon and sausage are from a butcher and they were the only saving grace on the plate, the baked beans come in a quite small pan, they are not Heinz or equivalent, tiny beans, hardly any and so full of sauce, - not good. Coffee was excellent. What a shame, maybe the staff of the day, or cut backs, but what a shame, not something to look forward to another time. lets hope it was just a blip!

This was a last minute getaway for my mum and I. We decided to book the family room so we had a little more space, and this room is also located a very short walk from the main hotel, so we felt it would be a little quieter. The room itself was lovely, we had to walk up a fairly narrow and winding staircase so slightly tricky with a suitcase and for my mum who has limited mobility. The lady who showed us to our room offered help with our luggage so that was much appreciated. The bathroom was small but very clean and the shower was nice and powerful. Unfortunately one of the lamps in the room was not working but this was quickly rectified when we asked reception to take take a look at it. For refreshments, we had a selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and two squares of fudge, but no biscuits unfortunately. The beds were comfortable and it was a quiet location being away from the main part of the hotel. Breakfast was nice, there was a good choice of hot food. There is no self service here, orders are taken at the table. Overall it was a nice comfortable stay, but I don’t think we would book the main hotel rooms over a weekend as the bar area did seem very busy on the Friday evening. Reception did advise that the main doors were locked at 10pm to non residents but I think the rooms directly above may have been a little on the noisy side.

No parking a big problem. Receptionist very helpful but stressful. Difficult to drive in town. Busy. Took 40 mins to find space. No resident space/ restaurant. Loud and busy pub style - not great. Location good.Bedroom ok but too hot and pillows are not good.
