"Good"

Beautiful hotel - the rooms, the main building, the grounds are all lovely. Spa is tired-looking and - in the two days we were there - seemed to be unattended. Dirty towels and paper cups were piled up for 24 hours next to a lounger. Service was slow and some of the staff were dismissive/rude to my wife. Disappointing because the first couple of staff members we met when checking in were great.

"Flawless 3-Day Event with Outstanding Support"

We recently held a 3-day training event at Oakley Court, and I genuinely couldn’t be more impressed with the experience. From the moment we arrived to the final goodbye, everything ran seamlessly. The entire team made sure no request was too much — and their support played a huge role in the success of our event. A huge thank you to Alaa and his team, who truly went above and beyond. Their flexibility, professionalism, and deep expertise shone through at every turn. Alaa not only helped us stay on top of the logistics but also suggested thoughtful improvements that enhanced the overall experience. His knowledge, calm manner, and proactive support made all the difference. All 33 attendees stayed over at the hotel, and without exception, they were incredibly impressed — not only by the level of service but also by the fantastic food throughout and the comfort of the rooms. Everyone commented on how well they slept and how cared for they felt. When it came to our team-building events, Alaa and the team pulled out all the stops. They created a warm, welcoming, and energising atmosphere that struck the perfect balance between professional and relaxed. We had participants travel from across Europe and Hong Kong, and every single person was blown away by the venue and service. From IT support to room layout, every detail was handled with care and precision. Staff were always on hand, incredibly friendly, and quietly efficient in keeping everything running smoothly. The variety of meeting and dining spaces also made planning easy and gave us great flexibility throughout. We truly felt supported and well looked after at every stage. This was, hands down, some of the best service I’ve experienced anywhere. I’ll absolutely be recommending Oakley Court to colleagues and contacts — and I’m already looking forward to coming back for some personal time at the hotel soon. Huge thanks again to everyone involved — your hard work, professionalism, and warmth didn’t go unnoticed.

"Bad mannered staff, awful service, massive letdown for a 50th birthday"

Good - Staff were nice on arrival but no one got up to greet us or help us with luggage when we checked in. Were given use of bikes for the afternoon and told where to go/given helpful map. Two guys who dealt with us were really nice but after that, no one was! Room was nice and clean, bed comfy and big, view lovely, nice touch with a small birthday cake, refreshments free, grounds beautiful. That's all I have... Bad - At check in we weren't given rundown of when check out was, what time breakfast finished etc as you usually would in a hotel. Spa is atrocious and old and although clean was not tidy. Piles of wet towels by side of pool on afternoon we arrived and still there 24 hours later (plus more)! The steam room etc really manky. Staff are too laidback and casual in their (what I have read) new uniforms. Apparently smart ones were intimidating but I found new ones made staff too relaxed and lazy. I didnt know who was staff, who was a gardener, who may have been a maintenance man, who may have been a DPD delivery driver (you get the point). We went to bar before heading out to dinner and had to go and ask for menus, they weren't brought to us, went and got them myself, then had to return to get drinks. It wasnt busy but they did have a corporate event on (so take note unless you're corporate you probably wont get service you hope). Towels in bedroom were striped crusty things like the ones in the spa and the hand towels and bath mat were white and soft so didnt even match. When I opened the door after arriving to ask housekeeping a question I was met by 2 x Indian men and one didnt say anything and the other said "Yea?". I was gobsmacked. Breakfast on day of checkout we arrived at 10am and were given frosty looks (maybe breakfast ended at 10am but who knew right?). We sat down and no one offered us any information about breakfast so I had to (again like night before) get up and ask for menus. Then I had to ask again about the buffet which was looking a bit worse for wear by this time. Chose 2 x poached eggs on seeded toast. Asked that they were NOT runny. Listened to one of them singing a song in their own language while we waited. Came with 1 slice of tiny bread and waiter walked off. I had to ask for condiments inc butter and he wandered off and took a phone call whilst collecting it all. It was cold by the time we ate it and my eggs were runny. Hungover and hungry I couldn't be bothered to interact and wait for Mr Moody pants again. At the end as he cleared plates he asked how it was so I truthfully told him that they were runny and it wasnt great (for £12 was awful!) and he wouldn't even look at me, let alone reply. I walked out and complained to some white T shirt wearing man how bad mannered the last man was and he just smiled awkwardly and said sorry. I walked, despite this, to reception and cheerily approached a heavily made up girl in reception with a big smile and said "Morning, is check out time 11am"? She looked up at me with moody eyes and simply said "Yeah". That was it. "Yeah". I walked off and muttered under my breath that it seemed all the staff had got out of bed on the wrong side that day. 5 mins later in our room we got a call from her saying we could check out at 12. Perhaps another T shirt wearing member of staff had berated her for her moodiness, who knows. We stayed in the garden until 2pm and left. Sadly we wont go back purely based on the service (and awful staff attire) which is in the toilet at this beautiful hotel. The staff need some serious training in manners too.

The hotel is amazing, gardens lovely sloping down to the river, Japanese restaurant - WOW, great service ,bedrooms very comfortable with complimentary snacks, used the boats on the river, definitely will be returning. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

"An Easter Getaway Turned Nightmare: The Unacceptable Reality"

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and dissatisfaction with my recent stay at river house Windsor. I had high expectations given by your reputation, but unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory due to what appears to be a disordered employee management system. During my stay at river house Windsor, I faced a rather distressing situation. I discovered that £400 of cash I had in my backpack went missing. I immediately reported this issue to the hotel staff, I was appalled by the lack of an appropriate response. There were no effective countermeasures put in place to address the problem. Instead of showing concern and taking steps to assist, the staff seemed indifferent, Instead of comforting me right away, the assistant manager said he will take this as accusation? I was just describing what had happened, I was just seeking for help. I tried to report the issue to the superior department and asked the staff if the manager was there today. Only then I realize that he had been right next to me the whole time, witnessing the entire process. However, he never came over to talk to me on his own initiative. I reached out to speak to the manager, standing by without offering any form of comfort or practical help which made me feel extremely helpless and frustrated. This lack of concern and follow - through is unacceptable. The Easter family trip was supposed to be a joyous and relaxing occasion, filled with laughter, and the simple pleasures of spending time together with my elderly mum and little one. However, what transpired was far from our expectations. To our great dismay, we encountered such an unpleasant situation that it's truly intolerable. I believe Soho house should uphold the highest standards of service and customer care, and part of that is having a well - organized employee management system. In this case, the system has clearly failed. I spent about 60days in the hotel worldwide last year, I have never encountered such an experience before. I hope that you will take this matter seriously, conduct a thorough review of your employee training and management protocols, and take steps to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.

"Unusual policy...."

Unable to give review as we were turned away as non-residents! Unusual policy.... We had enjoyed previous visits to Oakley Court (admittedly some time ago!) prior to the extensive refurbishment so had hoped for a cuppa in the sun. Very disappointing. It does look good though!
