Hotel Sonnenberg

Jorg and the staff were terrific. Breakfast was great. Room was small but very comfortable. View from balcony was stunning. Lounge was very comfortable and useful as a place to relax

Walk up to the property is hard work, especially with luggage. But it is hard to go anywhere in Grindelwald without having to walk up some steep paths!

Sehr freundlicher Empfang bei dem alles geduldig erklärt und gezeigt wurde. Ja, der Aufstieg vom Bahnhof hoch zum Hotel ist insbesondere mit Gepäck nicht ohne, aber mit einem guten Rollkoffer auch keine unlösbare Aufgabe. Über die Gästekarte kann der Ortsbus kostenlos benutzt werden: Die Linie 122 fährt oberhalb des Sonnenbergwegs den Terrassenweg ab, darüber kann man den Aufstieg ggf. auch in einen Abstieg umwandeln. :-) Obwohl gar nicht gebucht habe ich ein Zimmer mit Balkon bekommen und der Ausblick war fantastisch. Auch die frei zugängliche Terrasse und der "Getränkeautomat" waren super. Täglicher Zimmerservice war problemlos, Frühstück mit frisch zubereiteten Eierspeisen, alles war gut. :-)

Nice, attentive staff. Pleasant room. Good breakfast buffet. But the climb up a steep hill w luggage is not for anyone who is not in good cardio condition.

Small and cozy

Steep walk up to hotel. No staff around in evening. Not able to get a fork or spoon outside breakfast time. Not able to get ice during an emergency.

The breakfast was nice. The view from this place is its saving grace. Make sure to get a room in the front to enjoy the spectacular view. This place is all about the view.

It is an extremely uphill battle to get to this place especially with your luggage. It is a very steep uphill climb and the staff is not there to assist you. In fact the staff is most of the time absent except to serve breakfast. There is no customer service. They also dont tell you ahead of time that there is no refrigerator in the room and no ice machine. Make sure to have dinner before you climb the hill and bring all of your provisions with you.
