Sorell Hotel Rüden

My wife and I have recently returned from a long weekend in Schaffhausen and stayed at the Sorell Hotel Rueden. Having a central hotel is ideal for the restaurants and shops and I don't think they come much better than this. The hotel lobby and rooms have a more traditional feel to them which gives the hotel a warm and appealing feel throughout. The open fire in the lobby is a great place to unwind and have a drink at the end of the day. As with any service industry it is the staff that makes the difference, and here at the Sorell they couldn't be more attentive and polite. A great place to stay and somewhere I will be visiting again.

The hotel has excellent location in a historic building. It is very close to train station so you might hear noise from the trains passing by from time to time as well as clock tower ringing every 15 minutes, even over night. Nevertheless, hotel is very well equipped, though seems like some renovation works are being done at the moment.

In the middle of a business trip I met a colleague coming from Zurich for a day in Schaffhausen. This hotel is a five minute walk from the train station and was attractive. Breakfast buffet was very good. In general Schaffausen was expensive but the overall quality of the hotel was good. Wifi was free, a big plus for me.

Had exposed medieval wooden beams in a modern and spacious room. Delicious full buffett breakfast. Cons: 11:00 a.m. check out time, parking is very expensive and is not on the hotel site.

The hotel is walking distance from the train station and very close to the pedestrian walking sightseeing part of the town. The only problem with the hotel is it is built in a very old building. There are stones, wooden beans, metal sheets all combine together, making the rooms look rather odd and there are steps to enter the room, steps to the bathroom, very easy to trip over. On the other hand, the staff is helpful, location is great and the price is very reasonable.

Right in the city centre with gorgeous decor and a multilingual staff, this is a great base for the Falls of Rhine. No in house restaurant, but there are plenty of places to eat within a few minutes walk. Don't be put off by 'no window' rooms - they have a window but it opens on a light well and the room was still bright and airy. And there was a souvenir rubber duck to take home in the bathroom!

Room: under par, a very small bed, no room service, no parking in hotel, infact far away parking..... NOT AT ALL VALUE FOR MONEY....

Good location close to the railway station. Room very small with beams due to the age of the building - bathroom a good size but no heating apart from a towel warmer. Bed very soft. No coffee making facilities due to space but coffee is available from a Pod machine at CHF4.50 which is expensive. Breakfast satisfactory. WiFi free and good signal.

Great little hotel in a excellent location!! I stayed here for business and hotel is near the train station as well as shops,bars and restaurants nearby. Will always be my hotel of choice when staying for business in future!!
