"I stayed five places on island. This was my favorite."

10.0

My wife and I waited 15 years to go to the jade Mountain on St. Lucia. Who knew I would like windjammer much better. The rooms were fantastic, but Marcus and Bridget made everything worthwhile. I would stay here again 100 times before I stated any other hotel on island.

Lots of stairs on the side of a mountain

"Very many positives, but quite disappointed with the accommodation for the price we paid."

7.0

l The beach was lovely and kept very clean. Hotel staff were very attentive on the beach, bringing water, fresh fruit, asking if everything was ok, providing fresh coconut water. The breakfast was self-service or food, which suited our requirements, and there was always plenty of it, and lots of choice. The omelettes were made fresh and they were lovely. Dinner was available at a few restaurants on site, and they were all very good. We only felt we wanted to go out for a change for one night. The choices were more than adequate for our requirements, and the quality of the food, cooking, and presentation was excellent. All of the staff around the resort, on the whole, were absolutely lovely. Very polite, kind and inquisitive. Keen to say hi, how are you, enjoy the rest of your day, etc... Really lovely to feel welcomed. The gym and the spa were fabulous. Nothing at all to speak negatively about. The grocery store was more than adequate for our stay. There is also a jewellers and a clothes shop that we didn't visit, but they looked very nice too. The lobby area is very nice. There is a separate excursions office. Don't get caught out, like we did, by the beach sellers. We booked a boat trip with one of them, believing them to be connected to the hotel, as they asked for our room number. They took a deposit of US$100, which was fine, but when we discovered they were beach sellers, not connected to windjammer, we didn't feel safe, and cancelled out trip, losing the deposit. We think the resort should perhaps warn guests of this on arrival. The site was kept very clean and tidy. Even rainwater was blown away by staff. Just a little noisy at times in that regard, but it's hard to manage those issues without noise, I understand that. We only got bitten by mosquitos on one evening, and then was when we ventured out up the coast for dinner. Nonetheless the lovely housekeeper offered to spray our room again for us when we mentioned it.

We thought the villa that we had was very overpriced. It appeared to be one of the oldest areas of the resort. From the outside they looked lovely, but on getting up close, a lot of attention was needed. Loose downpipes, some dirty areas externally, though the whitewashing was clearly done very regularly, as they were beautifully white from afar. The inside of the villa, in some areas left a lot to be desired. We had a two-bedroomed villa with one bedroom and bathroom on one level, and the other bedroom and bathroom on a lower level. We're absolutely fine with stairs, but this needs to be kept in mind when you are booking. The house is also on a fairly steep hillside, again, fine for us, and there are shuttle buses always available. The bathrooms in the villa were both very small, quite dirty in some places. The upper bathroom was very dark, and the lower bathroom was just very small. Sometimes the downstairs toilet didn't flush properly, but I worked it out during our stay. We asked maintenance to visit to address it initially, and they sorted the initial problem vey quickly. The kitchen was very tired too. Very old appliances. Some of the furniture looked very damaged and dated, albeit clean. The doors and windows didn't have the best security locks, but as the resort has security on site, I suspect they see that as adequate. The pool was more like a plunge pool to cool down, but the floor was dirty and the leaves and detritus from the surrounding flora and fauna, gathered during our stay. I had to change the mouldy cushion covers outside too. Some clean ones had been left in the villa, but they were in a cupboard in a plastic bag.

"Private hillside villa vibe, amazing staff and all-inclusive, plus the cutest kids’ sunbeds"

10.0

The villa setup gives real privacy and calm, and the resort layout on the hillside feels like a Mediterranean-style village. You use the resort shuttle to get around, but it’s easy and well organised. All-inclusive was genuinely excellent, especially the cocktails. We tried two restaurants and the steak restaurant (The Deck) was a standout. Staff were exceptional: warm, relaxed and genuinely helpful. They also did a thoughtful birthday touch which felt personal. A small but adorable detail: they have cute little sunbeds for kids on the beach.

Not a dislike, but good to know - because it’s built on a hill, you’ll use the resort shuttle frequently, but it’s part of what creates the privacy and views.

"Paid for two rooms, given one. Still waiting on a refund."

1.0

Paid for two rooms, given one. Still waiting on a refund. "Extremely disappointed. I paid upfront for two Ocean View rooms, but the resort only gave us one room for the entire stay and said it is considered as two rooms. We were refused to provide a checkout receipt and asked to contact Booking.com. Booking.com acknowledged the issue over a month ago but has completely failed to issue a refund for the room we never received. Deceptive practices by both the property and the booking platform. Proceed with caution."
