Occidental Tamarindo - All Inclusive

I loved the natural beauty of this resort. The food was ok, the Japanese restaurant was great! I wish we could have more ala carte dinners. Like maybe every other night or every night. But, town is so close that it was nice to go out to eat in town as well. It was a 5.00 or less uber ride to town. We saw monkeys right in town. The beach at the hotel had this natural beauty. With rocks and had pools of water in between rocks that you could swim in without waves. I loved watching the surfers. The teens got to learn to surf in Tamarindo for like 40.00 ! They had a blast! Everyone was friendly at the resort and were very flexible - not too many rules! It was a very relaxing vacation. We felt safe all the time!

Our stay overall was very satisfactory. May be just our room, but the mattress and pillow qualities were poor giving us neck pains. Also just two bars, that too one in the lobby with limited hours, is not good for such a facility.

I just love the people, the beach, and the all-inclusive Resort ! The waves on the beach were so nice. Volleyball each night was fun. The sunsets were just the best all around. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The evening bartender in the lobby was the best !

If you’re looking for a quality resort this is not the place for you. Food is horrible, beach is essentially nonexistent, staff is unhappy, rooms are full of mold, beds are rock hard and if you have any food allergies good luck.

This was the 6th property in the Barcelo family of resorts we have visited and by far the worst. The property itself is nice although the pool and rooms need some repairs and updating. However, the food bordered on inedible. I sometimes read reviews of the other properties we have visited and wonder how people had such bad experiences, but this was as bad as any review I've read. And it was the same every single day for a week. The two restaurants were marginally better than the buffet but nothing great. They have these strange menus where you can only order certain things for the all-inclusive price. No poolside bar service. No First Club or amenities. The staff did not even seem to know what that was. This was at best a 1 or 2 star resort. Given that the location was nice. The staff was average - nobody really reaches out to do anything extra for you.

Great property if you would like to be just outside the craziness of downtown tamarindo! Given all-inclusive, an excellent value

Not a 5 star resort, but for the price it is well worth it. Beautiful beach. Buffet was just okay. Japanese and Italian restaurants were very good. User Leo for booking excursions. He is the best.

Great setting, pretty grounds.

We felt 7pm was a bit late to start dinner. The beach was smaller than anticipated. The room could use some updating as usage and climate can take its toll.

Ok place to stay rooms were very nice and comfortable, staff could do better replacing room items when used . Kinda felt that most people were not friendly. Some staff were not very helpful others were absolutely amazing.
