I loved everything

Everything!! As a Solo traveler I was so well looked after. My first time for shared facilities was not a problem at all. The shower and toilet were spotlessly clean with body wash, shampoo and conditioner available. The property is modern and extremely clean and well maintained. My room was spacious for Japan standards. Extremely comfortable king single bed with lovely linen, sofa, TV, table and chair, cupboard space and a sink which was very convenient. Coin washing machine and dryer available. Breakfast was outstanding, with both western and Japanese choices. Gluten free options too. There’s a nice bar area for a drink and a chat with staff and other guests. The Staff are amazing, thanks Kenji, Ryoko, Bryn and all the staff at Woody Hill for being so friendly and making my stay so comfortable and welcoming. Short walk to the lifts. Highly recommend this property

Woody Hill is warm and comfortable, and Kenji and Reiko are wonderful hosts who went above and beyond our expectations. The breakfasts are incredible! They are delicious, satisfying and different every day, with so much to choose from. The location is ideal, just a short 10 minute walk to the lifts, and there are many places to eat nearby. We loved staying at Woody Hill, and we will happily return. We truly appreciate the hospitality and generosity that made our stay at Woody Hill so special. Thank you!

Helpful and very friendly staff, fantastic food, spacious and comfortable rooms. The freshly baked muffins every morning are easily the best part of breakfast, though the rotating breakfast buffet was also very delicious. Kenji, Reiko, Bryn, and Taku were all so helpful and always willing to help us with anything we needed. Dinner at the lodge was also a joy, especially the Nabe (which has to be pre-ordered at breakfast) and the pork set. If I return to Madarao, I'd gladly stay at Woody Hill again!

Location is a bit far from the ski resort, about 10min walk, but there is a nearby bus stop if you don't need to be at the slopes right when lifts open.
