The Rittenhouse Philadelphia

Nice property…. Restaurant was not fantastic. Would have loved to go somewhere else for dinner. Others may love though.

The hotel radiated a classic east coast style mid-20th century elegance recalling Park Ave or the Upper East Side in NY. The Rittenhouse Square neighborhood is a modish and upper crust neighborhood of downtown Philadelphia, great shopping and dining nearby. Only issue is the hotel didn’t seem to recognize my VIP Access gold status in any meaningful way. The front desk gave me “free WiFi and welcome drink at the bar”, which I’m pretty sure every guest gets. Not sure why they thought they could convince me that was a “VIP access benefit” 😂

An absolutely premier property with exceptional service. The lighting in the room and bathroom could be be better, but that is basically the only minor flaw.

Doormen were great. Easy check-in but no water offered, no upgrade, no welcome amenity, no personal note, no 5* treatment. Room was nice but the lights kept turning off on their own, and one lamp wasn’t even plugged in. Also one of my towels was dirty with a brown stain on it. If you want to be a true 5* hotel, you’ll need to vastly improve your staff’s attention to detail and work harder to make each individual guest feel special and welcome. Also bathroom amenities were not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination, and portions were rather stingy. I am very surprised Forbes gave this hotel 5*, and I feel like AAA correctly gave this hotel only 4 Diamonds. It’s a nice hotel, don’t get me wrong, but it is not a true 5* luxury experience, or even close.

Really amazing experience. Thoughtful staff, beautiful facilities, spacious room with a gorgeous view of the park. Wouldn’t come back to Philadelphia and stay anywhere else.

We were originally going to Savannah for a few days and canceled due to expected heavy rain from a costal storm. Instead we played tourist in our home city of Philadelphia. We chose the Rittenhouse because of reputation and location. Service was exemplary. Staff extends themselves to accommodate any request. Highly recommended.
