Avania Inn of Santa Barbara

The location was close to the beach and pier. The beds were comfortable but the pull out was old, dirty, and extremely uncomfortable.

The wall with the sunset painting needed to be dusted and the jacuzzi could use a face lift. The room doors slam really loud. I also think the price was a bit high for the value.

Excellent location. Close to pier, beach and downtown area. Very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful.

The room had a balcony and the location was okay.

My main complaint was the broken hot tub (which was my main reason for selecting this hotel) and the staff's handling. After checking in to discover the hot tub was unable to be used, I called and asked to be switched to a room with a bathtub. The young man working the front desk said their were none available. When I asked if he could help me somehow by cancelling or a partial reimbursement, he put me on hold for some time and returned to say the manager coming in the morning would provide a partial reimbursement. However, the following morning, the manager repeatedly said he had no notes from the evening staff without apparently looking because at the end of our conversation he mentions having notes that I wanted a bathtub but had ordered a room without one. He concurred the hot tub was not included either instead merely a bonus and there was no reimbursement. The room I ordered did say it had a bath tub option and the hotel falsely selling based on having a hot tub, combined with the "promise" of a partial reimbursement by staff left me highly disappointed and feeling robbed. Lastly, the breakfast was definitely sub par.
