Island Inn By OYO Galveston Beach, TX

The location area was the reason we booked with this property. It was close to the beach and activists we had planned for the day.

Rooms were not clean, sheets with stains, there was mold on the restroom doors, walls, floors were wet moist. Smell was mold and humid. Manager was never present to help receptionist which was very poor customer service and unable to understand language.

This place was pricey due to the location. The location was good - near the beach. The owner/manager at front desk was nice. Everything else about this place was bad. It was filthy, old, run down. The door was broken, it was very difficult to open and close the door behind you, when leaving you had to unlock the key card and slam the door just right for it to stay closed. The secondary “chain” was broken and dangling. There were holes in the wall. Shoddy patch work everywhere. The bedspread was stained and dirty. The bed frame was rusted, sharp and poking out beyond the box frame, which could cause injury. If this place was $60 a night, i wouldn’t complain, but it was 5x that much. I would have driven farther to the beach to stay in a decent place for less money.

Pictures definitely do not match the actual property! I thought we were at the wrong place. Room was very dirty with holes and stains on the bedding. Booked for 5 people and the room only had 3 pillows, 2 towels and 1 wash cloth. Tried to go downstairs to get more and lobby was locked up. Would not recommend this place!!!

Lots of room space but ac didnt cool much, one towel, bed sheets stains all over, old refrigerator and microwave. Outside garbage never got change of the two days staying there.

Not one thing except air conditioner

Rooms were filthy. Mold was on the pillow. Sheets were dirty. Bathtubs were nasty and hairy. Looks like someone actually lives there and had to vacate before we got there. The man in the office was horrible. Very rude. I didn’t know about all the fees that was gonna be added. I payed online for two nights. But the security deposit was additional $50. I had two small dogs. $15 each pet each night. So $60 plus taxes. Very sketchy part of town. Very scared to be outside. Two people staying only one towel, wash rag. No toilet paper at all. Tiny bars of soap. Not much bigger than a lima bean. And two small packets of shampoo (like you would get Parmesan cheese for a pizza) This trip was horrible.

The location

When I arrived I checked in and was told there would be a $50 deposit. No problem. I know I was staying one night and I was alone. I spent most of my time on the beach. I checked out on June 7th. Now come June 21st, I was charged the $50. I called the hotel and asked and they said they didn’t know why and to call back later, so I did the next day and they said call back in the afternoon. I worked overnight so I didn’t get to call until June 25th. The man was so sarcastic and rude to me and told me that a report was made that I smoked in the room. I do not even smoke!!
