"Beautiful but hot!"

6.0

We have loved the design and architecture of the building, did the tour, which was great and informative and ate at the just opened restaurant. The restaurant was great! Best salmon I may have ever had, great fish and chips too. However, the AC in the building can not keep up with the heat. On arrival the front desk was kind enough to try and accommodate us and moved our room to a room on a lower floor hoping that would help with the room not being cool. And gave us a discount since the room we had reserved was larger. But to our disappointment the lower floor room is just as warm. I did not go back and complain, because I really hate being that person, but I am seriously considering going and finding other accommodations for tonight. Neither of us slept well last night and I need some AC. But the rooms are beautiful! Hoping with the new investors they invest in the AC units that can be put on the walls. It would change the entire experience!

"Historic hotel.. was a nice stay.."

8.0

If you love historic properties and architecture this is a great hotel. There were imperfections, but that is expected in buildings this old. It was clean… but very dated. Carpets were very worn in our room. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Beds were comfy and views were awesome. Our room was cool with fan going. New owners, and renovations expected.. I’m sure when that happens, it would be out of our price range. Glad we stayed when we did.

"Used to be a great hotel"

4.0

I used to love staying at this hotel, which is beautiful and unique, but it has gone downhill over the last couple of years. I had no cold water in the sink or shower, so it got uncomfortable. No coffee pot or refrigerator in the room -- not even a box of facial tissues. The toilet paper was stiff and scratchy. The air conditioning barely worked, but the room had a portable fan so that helped a bit. The wrap-around windows provided a beautiful view, but because it was hot outside and the A/C didn't work I didn't keep the curtains open much. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious, but this hotel needs some help. When I mentioned the water issue to the staff, they said they knew about it. (It would have been nice if they had mentioned that when I checked in.) I hate to write this review, but I want other travelers to know about these issues before they visit.

"Work of art hotel, one-of-a-kind"

10.0

This is a beautiful hotel! The architecture is striking and interesting. The rooms even have Frank Lloyd Wright designed furniture and lighting. The staff members are so accommodating and friendly. We also brought our poodle! Our 10th floor room was gorgeous and had a multi-side view with enormous windows. The only drawback is the air conditioning which is not 100%. Plus when I left my glasses, they reached out to send them back to me.

"Worth it!"

10.0

We had such an enjoyable experience! The hotel is so unique. I loved all of the windows in our room. That evening there was a thunderstorm, and it was so neat to watch the lightning all around us. There was also a free concert on the lawn the weekend we were there which added to our great experience. We would have loved to take the tour, but it was booked up. However you can explore the first two floors and read about the history of the building/hotel without having the formal tour. We have eaten at the restaurant before, and it was very good, but this. time it was under renovation. So, we ate at Painted Horse which was also good and within walking distance. You can also easily walk to Wheeze's for breakfast in the morning.

"A beautiful space to experience one night in a Wright building"

10.0

The Price Tower, an office building with mixed use on the lower floors, now the Inn at Price Tower was dedicated in February 1956 and its architect, 89 year old Frank Lloyd Wright, wanted its copper finishes to have an aged greenish patina; he knew he wouldn’t live long enough to see the the material age. Therefore, he treated it and made it look “aged” before its time. This is just one interesting chestnut we learned on our magnificent tour given by the colorful guide Mr. Price Connors. The building now has 19 hotel rooms available at very competitive prices. If you want the full Wrightian experience sleep there overnight, hear the freight trains whiz by in the middle of the night, take a shower and enjoy the radiant heat floor in the bathrooms, and look out those patina-colored copper clad windows shaded by Wright. We stayed on the 7th floor and he had two beds in the room. The view was great. There was plenty of hot water for two people to shower. The shower space is small by 21st century standards, but it met our needs. We enjoyed all the accoutrements, and the great experience of staying in such a unique place for one special evening. The following day Mr. Connors led us on an interesting tour of the building. When we were there, no breakfast was offered, but that we knew that when we booked the room.

"Thermostat broken ( stuck on heat); elevator broken…."

2.0

Stay here only if you need to stay in a Frank Lloyd Wright building - or better yet, take the tour and stay elsewhere. Reception is only at the hotel until 11pm, and then returns in the morning. When I went to bed, I turned down the thermostat because the room was sweltering ( it had been a warm 70’ February day), woke up at 2 am drenched in sweat - room was about 90’. Played with the thermostat ( tried looking it up online - VINTAGE Johnson Control pneumatic thermostat), opened all the windows. Slept very poorly after listening to alarms outside, train horns, police sirens, - not to mention the light pouring into the room. Was awoken by a phone call telling me the elevator wasn’t working ( I was on the 7th floor). No One offered to help me check out with my bags ( have had a knee replacement). When I went downstairs and told them about the thermostat and sirens - the front desk clerk was not surprised, and was interested in my report about the alarms because there had been some other problems during the night. Not one offer of a fee reduction for my disappointing stay. Ruined my next day completely with my utter lack of sleep. I would have slept better if I had stayed in my car ( and wouldn’t have had to carry my luggage down 7 flights of stairs). Cannot recommend this hotel at all.

"Interesting Place to Stay"

10.0

This is Frank Lloyd Wright only skyscaper and it is neat to stay there for that reason. The interior hallways are basically nonexistent; the elevators are tiny and barely hold two people (or one person and luggage). The room was large and the furnishings nice. The bathroom was spacious, but the water never got hot. According to the hotel staff, there a continual problems with the water temperature. It was fine for one night, but I wouldn't want to spend multiple nights here - it just wasn't comfortable enough,

"Architecture fans, yes! Others, maybe not. "

6.0

We’ve been to 10 or so Frank Lloyd Wright homes, so we’re interested in actually staying at a property. We knew going in that comfort wouldn’t be a priority as style always seems to outweigh function and comfort. Room layout has tv parallel and in line with sofa so tv mostly for watching in bed. Don’t expect a coffee maker in your room. Though there was a mini fridge. We brought a bottle of wine with us and had to borrow glasses from the front desk. Due to holiday weekend, no tour of upper floors available, but we could still buy tickets to “walk around the outside of the building ((pass).” No on premed dining, coffee, rolls etc. If you are an architecture buff, definitely worth a stay 1 night). Otherwise better comfort and value elsewhere.

"Being honest here..."

4.0

Being honest here. Yes, it's a FLW designed building (from the 1950's) and it's on the National Historic Registry - I get that. We stayed in the 2-story bedroom suite and the bathrooms are literally from the 1950's-extremely tight and old. The stairs in these suites are very tiny/narrow=dangerous.
