Hampton Inn & Suites Detroit Sterling Heights

I had an excellent stay here. I was in town visiting my young son, and this trip meant a lot to me personally. What stood out most wasn’t just the room—it was the staff. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with genuine kindness and professionalism that felt real, not scripted. The staff went out of their way to help me extend my stay so I could spend more time with my son, and that meant more to me than I can properly put into words. Every interaction—from the front desk to breakfast—was warm and welcoming. When they found out why I was in town, they were incredibly supportive and encouraging. The room itself was comfortable and clean, and coming back to the hotel each night actually felt relaxing instead of lonely. That made a big difference for me. I’ve stayed in nicer hotels in terms of amenities, but this was one of the nicest experiences I’ve had because of the people

Honestly, very little. If I had to mention something, the pool doesn’t open until 10:00 AM, and it would be nice if it were available earlier for guests who like to start their day with a swim. Aside from that, everything else was handled well—even when something like an ice machine wasn’t working, it was clearly communicated and there were alternatives available.

Location is perfect. Staff was friendly.

Bathrooms were trashed and nasty. The people that stayed above us were so loud all night long and kept us up until 2am. Didn’t get good sleep at all. We complained several times and nothing was done. So upset I paid the amount I did for zero good sleep. No extra pillows or towels. They are under going renovations but there should be things done to accommodate your guests

The hotel was under major renovations, which I wasn't made aware of during reservations. This wasn't the fault of the hotel as I booked my reservation through booking.com. The entire front desk area was torn up, including the floor. There was only one elevator working. The breakfast needs updating. Please put lighted makeup mirrors in the bathrooms.

It smelled of mildew & mold. Also, the bathtub sink down when you stepped into it and the bottom/sides of the bathtub were too narrow. Also, there was no breakfast bags as promised for us that needed to check out before hot breakfast was served

Not being able to get in room until 1am, room was reserved in advance, desk clerk was rude !

Avoid staying here. There have to be better options in the area. This is the worst Hampton Inn I've ever been at. It is currently under renovations, there was no mention of this when i booked. The mattress was well used - I had a spring poking me in the back most of the night. The thermostat didn't work, anytime I tried to set it lower, it went back to 78 degrees- maybe a comfortable temp for some but not for me to sleep in. I typically like Hampton Inn. But this is one is awful.
