Colfax Inn

We checked in to Colfax Inn today. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The weekly rates here dont even compare to other motels this nice. The staff we spoke with are amazing. I would recomend this motel to anyone.

This hotel was about 15 minutes from Altoona and was inexpensive. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean. The Colfax Inn used to be a nice Comfort Inn. Private owners have since taken over. The owners were very polite and helpful. Per the staff, the swimming pool and hot tub are permanently out of order. The pool was drained and they were using this room as storage. The elevator, ice machine, and vending machine were also out of order. For breakfast, there were toast and bagels. The toaster was also not fully functional (only 2 slots of the 4 worked). We opted for breakfast from McDonald's (right across the street) and in Altoona. We had an issue with our air conditioner and they offered to move us to another room, or swap out for a new unit that they had on hand. They swapped it out within 20 minutes or so, and were very accommodating. Beware if you are sensitive to odor/smoke. The first floor of this hotel has a very musty smell. The second floor hallways wreaked of cigarette smoke. Our 2 rooms did not have an odor. Overall, we likely wouldn't stay here again. Hopefully the owners will work on improving/maintaining the property. Gave 2 stars based on the friendly staff, location, and rates.
