Marriott Myrtle Beach Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes

Great location, very good atmosphere, spacious rooms, good value, great service, very clean facilities

We had the most pleasant breakfast at the Marriott grand dunes, and our server Mo made us feel like family, he did anything possible to make our breakfast and stay special. Mo an asset to your company and we are so grateful to have met him. Mo was the best and we look forward to seeing him again this morning!

I had a business trip in Myrtle Beach and decided to stay here. I had stayed here years ago so I was familiar with this resort. I liked my stay than which is why I decided. to stay here again. It's also kind of detached from the main tourist area of Myrtle Beach so it's quieter and a little more leisurely. The resort has all the resort amenities and such that deem this a resort. It was kind of nice coming back here after being out on location for work and did feel relaxing and refreshing. For that I appreciate the property. I did stay here two times a week apart so this review is for both. Check in. I thought the check in was ok. I think the people behind the front desk upon arrival could have been a little more welcoming considering people are coming here for mostly a vacation so this was unexpected. Oddly enough when I checked out the front desk people were very nice. Where was that when I checked in? I was kind of in a good mood so the check in attitude didn't really bother me as much as it usually would. I always say, the check in can make or break your feelings going into the stay but like I said, this time I brushed it off. Everyone else who worked here was very nice and friendly. Usually I go through a whole timeline of things with my stay but this time I think I'm just going to do a what was good and what wasn't and why I'm giving it 3 stars. It really should be 3.5 but you can't do halves...I think. The good. I thought the room was really nice and a perfect size. Not too big but not small. Kind of what you would expect from a classic Marriott room. My room was a corner room that looked out to the South where I had beach views and to the West where I had the commercial side of things. It was a high room so I could see out to the horizon including the bright ferris wheel that is not the Skywheel. I had a nice stay in this room. When I had a chance to snag some time at the end of the day I would sit by the pool and really enjoyed that. There's plenty of space although I'm guessing during the high season it's way more busy than when I was there. There is a bar you can order food and drinks from as well as servers walking around to take orders. This definitely gave it a resort feel. The property being right on the beach, you have access to it so taking a nice walk or hanging out at the beach is also a nice option. It wasn't really crowded but again maybe it was the time of the year. I ate one night at the bar/restaurant and thought it was fine. Thankfully they had a veg burger so that was nice for those who don't eat meat. The parking was ok. You can mostly get a good spot but when it's packed there were times one has to walk a little further. Not a big deal but for those who can't walk long distances but not handicapped, this can be an issue. I would say these things make up the good side of the stay and before I go into the things that were wrong, I would stay here again because it's probably the best in Myrtle Beach. Oh and there is a little gift shop to buy snacks, clothes, suntan lotion, etc. Ok. Now the part I hate to write but honest is honest and to be honest, I don't think I'm the first one to write this. The lobby is nice but beyond that the property is dated. The carpet is old. The room doors old and the elevators need a refresh. There are lots of scratches and dings, chipped paint and just not what you would expect from a resort let alone a hotel. It gives the feeling that the people running the resort don't care because people will stay there regardless and that's not how someone should look at a hotel. I've attached pictures so you see that I'm not crazy. Hopefully there are plans to redo this and other public areas. Breakfast. It's a buffet...The most Marriott buffet ever. In other words you could find this buffet at any Marriott and for a property that calls itself a resort, this is not resort quality food and display. Not to mention the breakfast potatoes are pretty terrible. All the people who work breakfast were really nice but the food was not great. They should put some more effort into making it look a little more lux. In the bar area they have a coffee bar and light breakfast items. It's ran by one person and if you get someone ordering a more complicated drink, it can take a while so give yourself enough time if you have somewhere you have to be...Which I'm guessing people there on vacation have more time to spare than someone like me who was there on business. If you're looking for a place away from the rest of Myrtle Beach, this is the place to stay. Not only are there the resort aspects but there are a lot of quality restaurants in the surrounding area. It's not the worst by far but at the end of the day it's more Marriott hotel than resort in my opinion.

Kathy (gift shop) and Ani (bar) took excellent care of me! The service was absolutely excellent. Honorable mention for shrimp and scallops pasta! Will definitely come back!

Fantastic experience! Staff was incredible, especially at Ocean's restaurant...Sofia was our server and was incredible...and just adorable!

Woke up around 5am to use the bathroom only to find a baby roach crawling on the floor. I was so grossed out. So afraid that we would take roaches home in our luggage. Spraying suitcases on our anniversary celebration. With the rate of my room, no way we should have been exposed to this on our anniversary. I called room service. They sent someone up to barely spray and gave a $75 deduction. $500 a night room with bugs!!!!
