Meadowbrook Inn

I have no idea why there are so many bad reviews. Maybe it was wrong place wrong time for those people, but we had a great experience! I was hesitant to book at first because of the mixed reviews but from the moment we arrived I relaxed greatly. Our check-in experience was delightful and very welcoming. They explained everything clearly and answered any of our questions. Our room was in the main building. It was clearly recently renovated with updated furniture, plugs, and lighting. Everything felt and looked clean. I was never once worried about cleanliness. The hotel common areas are a mixture of antique and modern, but it has a mountain charm. There are ice machines and vending machines available. The gym is small and overlooks the pool area. Great view but it makes for a humid room. The equipment is dated but still provides options for a good full body workout. Cardio machines works great as well and there are TVs present. I just wish they had free weights! The pool area is nice and we only swam in it for a short time but it wasn't freezing cold as all the reviews say. It was manageable. They have a conference/ball room in the basement adjacent to the Breakfast Lounge, and it has a lovely gigantic fire place! The outdoor area had a cute walking path that led to an adorable gazebo. This hotel provides that quiet, cozy, Inn charm you're looking for from Hallmark movies! The reviews about breakfast were so bad I expected only cereal and bagels, but they had sausage, eggs, pancakes, biscuits & gravy, grits, bagels/breads, cereal, yogurt, milk, juices, and coffee/tea available each day we stayed. And it was good! The lounge has a great view of their outdoor walking path and it was so pretty covered in snow in the mornings. Coffee and tea were available at all times in the lobby. The walk to downtown is less than a block away, super quick and easy! I highly recommend staying at Meadowbrook Inn to anyone, and I had such a great experience I will definitely come back. People can't expect 5 star experience at a 3 star mountain hotel, but I had a better time here than most Hiltons I've stayed in. And we spent almost all our time in Blowing Rock inside the hotel due to an ice storm. We happened to be visiting over the weekend of Blowing Rock Winterfest, a big ice storm came and everything was cancelled. A lot of stores and restaurants closed so we spent most of our time at the hotel. Thankfully the hotel provided breakfast as part of our booking rate so we weren't as worried about access to food! We had a warm room, a tv with streaming options, coffee, snacks, a pool, a gym, we had plenty of activities to keep us entertained!

Location was perfect!! Zoey at the check I was absolutely a gem!! So informative and friendly such a pleasure !!!

Location was central. Nice patio. Rooms had everything you needed. Gym with water available and shower.

Continental breakfast was convenient but not worth it for the price

Friendly check-in. Prompt, courteous attention to non-functioning TV and confusion with lamp switch. We weren't there long enough to utilize amenities such as pool, terrace, piano room etc.

I felt that "a block from the center of Blowing Rock was a bit misleading", but it worked fine anyway.

Poor. Only one staff with a large number of customers. Ran out of bread for toast, ran out of muffins. Eggs cold. Ran out of juice.

HVAC filters were dirty. Leak around base of commode. Did not know before checking in that the room was on 2nd floor with no elevator access. Cost of breakfast excessive.
