Strawberry Hill

Stunning location and property. Good food and nice pool! Amazing views.

Rooms look amazing and great stay - UNTIL you get a noisy and ignorant neighbor: Rooms have no windows so noise travels quickly. Staff was mixed, forgot our spa booking.

The location is incredible and the staff are very friendly and attentive. I enjoyed the welcome cocktail on arrival, a lovely touch. All cocktails were very well made. We loved our cottage view over kingston city and the mountain. The view from bed is unmatched. The property appears to not have had many changes. Its original form gives it a nice simplistic vibe which you don’t often find these days. The beds are super comfy and we both slept well. We enjoyed waking up and drinking the ground Blue Mountain coffee provided in the room.

The dinner selection did not change during our stay and was limited in options to choose from. This dampened our experience a little, a buffet which includes local classics would have been ace. The dinner menu did not have Jamaican classics. However the lunch menu did, making it nicer in our opinion. Again limited in choice. One dish stood out on the dinner menu and that was the oxtail shepard’s pie. Unfortunately due to the location being on a mountain the outside options for meals are very limited. Even if google advises other spots are open, telephone beforehand as we found opening days/ hours differed. This leaves you to rely on the food at the hotel. The breakfast included with the room could have more options or at least be a little more hearty and substantial as per the a la carte options. We ended up adding a la carte on top (a few nice choices there) of our inclusive breakfast but this can become expensive. The fruit plate wasn’t the best, the oranges were cut in a way that you couldn’t easily eat them and in general the fruits prepared were not soft. The music selection was small and limited. Given the resort has a connection to music a better selection of music could be played or better to play no music. I heard the same 4 (not great) christmas songs played on loop. I mentioned this and it was changed promptly “thank uuu :) “ overall during my stay (3nights) the playlists were noticeably repeating and this became unenjoyable as you are forced to hear it whilst trying to relax/ enjoy the common areas of the resort. The resort could benefit from having a few inclusive activities. This would enhance this experience for me i.e a morning 30mins stretch class or something to allow the guests connect a little should they want to. For these reasons and for the stay to be value for money I’d recommend Strawberry Hill perfect for short stays, 2nights max.

This was my second time at Strawberry Hill. Just stunning. I will be back!

The drive up to the property is quite challenging - steep winding roads

The pool and Mountain View’s are incredible. The rum punch - yum! I’ve been thinking about it since we left. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately music playing from across the mountain in a community was playing very loudly until past 10pm. This was not the hotels fault in anyway, just took away from the peaceful vibe.

Beautiful views

There was no internet in our room. The room they gave us wasn’t the one shown on book.com. The sheets were stained with blood. The staff when informed didn’t care. Floors were disgustingly dirty (see photo). Motel vibes.
