"Lovely family holiday, plenty to do, relaxed, big I would say 4* hotel"

8.0

Rooms in mature secondary jungle setting, buggy service to rooms, pool area, pool bar, beach, cafe/restaurant, free mini bar, housekeeping,

Rooms a little tired although everything worked, jungle canopy meant rooms were a little dark, breakfast area could also do with a refurb, layout not the best, can feel cramped

"Thoroughly enjoyed the suite on water - very relaxing"

8.0

Customer service was truly great - available 24/7 and contactable by phone and WhatsApp. At almost midnight, I realised I'd left my phone charger in another room and they promptly contacted housekeeping for me - it was found and brought to me within 15 minutes. Premier suite on water was incredibly spacious. As we were moving from a different room, customer service explained how this would work and they contacted me before check-in when a room became available. A buggy arrived to pick up our luggage with the key for the new room, so we didn't have to go to the lobby and go through the check-out process from Room 1. This meant we had a few more hours to enjoy Room 2 which was appreciated. Room has slippers and robes, numerous cups/mugs/glasses for espresso/tea/coffee/water and glass bottles of water in every location you can imagine. There are blinds you can pull down on each side of the jacuzzi for privacy, and sheer curtains when looking out to sea. His and Hers sinks in the bathroom. Sinks and toilet separate from bath and open waterfall shower - these then lead out onto the jacuzzi area. Large desk area for work if required with plenty of (hidden) sockets. Large TV in the bedroom as well as another across the bath. The floor seemed cleaner and more polished in this room than the rainforest chalet.

Jacuzzi bubbles could have been stronger - barely created a ripple in the water. Buggy system getting to the water suites takes a little longer but this is to be expected as they are further out and isn't the end of the world. Although there are timings for dinner/spa bookings, they are aware when buggies are taking a while to reach their destinations. As other reviews state, roofs need to be cleaned as it makes the resort look run down.

"Great customer service, resort in need of clean-up."

8.0

Customer service noted a change in arrival time and were able to get us into a room before check-in. They are available to contact via the room phone as well as WhatsApp 24/7. There is a buggy system available. These can sometimes take time, depending on how many pax are going in a particular direction. Some guests were treating buggy organisers terribly because they refused to understand that they couldn't just get on any buggy that arrived - you need to wait your turn until they call your room number. When booking, tell staff your room number, your destination and how many pax. Rainforest chalet was clean, firm comfortable bedding, had a small fruit basket, plastic bottles of water, tea & coffee facilities & complimentary mini-bar snacks/drinks. Slippers available but no robes. Surrounded by trees, so can feel a bit damp in the room. Also had a few insects and beetles make their way in but we knew this was a possibility and relocated these back outside. Can hear the sound of cicadas and wildlife. Beach: Fairly clean and easy to access as an able-bodied guest. Some paths had steps, others were sloped but there was a step down into the beach that could make it difficult for someone in a wheelchair without support. Some guests started to play rubbish music and fly drones which ruined the calm atmosphere. Spa: Easy to book at the lobby, requires 1 day notice at minimum. Highly recommend the Malaysian massage. Men and women's areas are separate (as are sauna/steam room) but they can book you a couple's room for massage. No male massage therapists available, all women. Pool is shared but much more private than the pools by the beach. Nature walk: Requires booking at lobby, was unfortunately booked out for our proposed date so were not able to partake. Perhaps book before arrival if staying for a short time. Food: Plenty of options at buffet breakfast. No buffet dinner (or reservation required) at Dayang during off-season.

Housekeeping knocked on the door despite the 'do not disturb' sign and then asked to clean the room. Contacted customer service via WhatsApp asking them to remind housekeeping of this and it did not occur again for the remainder of our stay. Saw some steps to rainforest chalets near us getting jet washed and leaf blowers used, but ours wasn't for the entirety of our stay meaning we were constantly stepping over fallen/semi-rotting fruit from trees. We didn't require the jet wash but blowing items off our path would have been helpful. Would strongly suggest Malay options for dinner/breakfast/drinks are not watered down to western palettes, it was such a shame travelling from KL & Penang to find the Malay options lacking in their true flavour. Could barely taste the tea in teh tarik, rendang was not cooked down enough nor had the burst of flavour it should, no wok hei in char kway teow, barely any coconut flavour in nasi lemak and the cendol was awful - grass jelly was hard and powdery like it had been frozen. Resorts do this everywhere but I strongly feel that food is so important to culture and anyone who doesn't understand that can go and eat overpriced pizza/burgers/spaghetti at Beach Brasserie :) As others have stated, the resort is quite aged and in need of some restoration. All of the roof tiles had leaves that have been there so long they've turned into mulch, and makes the whole resort look very run down.

"Relaxing time in a stunning location close the activities we wanted to do."

9.0

Authentic, characterful, our chalet was very comfortable - not a premium one so less luxurious and no Bath which our friends who had a premium one had. We were very happy. Set within the jungle and short walk to culture village and gondola to see the spectacular views and where we did quad bikes from. Gorgeous beach. Good food. Choice of restaurants. Wonderful staff
