Hilton Garden Inn Baton Rouge Airport

The exterior and lobby area are well maintained and look inviting. The 1st room we had a roach occupant. So we were given a new room with a suite upgrade. The interior of the room is battleship grey and quite depressing. Even with all the lights on it was still dim. The bathroom wasn’t the greatest. The rub needed reglazing or covering. There wasn’t an exhaust fan so the floors and walls were damp. This probably explains the mildew smell and damn feeling in the room.

Staff was amazing, friendly and helpful.

From the outside, this hotel is beautiful. The front lobby is modern and clean. I arrived on a phone call and a lingered in the lobby as I finished the call. During that time the front desk professional was initially observed at the service desk then began sitting at a table in the lobby on a laptop. If guests approached the service desk, he would ask them what they needed before getting up to assist. Check-in for me was easy, but he only explained to me where the elevator was. He gave no information on room amenities, access to wi-fi, room assistance if needed, local eateries or other helpful hints. Once getting on the elevator, I noticed a watery stitch, which I assumed was due to the pool area as I saw guests going and coming from that direction when I arrived. However, when I got on the 4th floor, it smelled watery in general; almost mildew like. The same smell was in the room and it was difficult to rest. The room was partially clean, with the bathroom needing some scrubbing on the floor and in the shower area to remove rust stains. Strings of hair were on the floor and someone’s gum was attached to the wall near the trash. The sofa was dirty and many areas don’t simply need to be touched up, they need to be removed. The carpet was wet near the bed. The location was perfect for my travels because I could walk to where I needed to go. If I had to remain more than 1 night, I would have had to find somewhere else to stay. It’s unfortunate.

I checked in late around 11 pm and the room was very dark with limited lighting. We were so tired we just went to bed. I woke up at 5 am to a roach crawling on the ceiling. It eventually fell in the bed with my young child. I killed the roach and started getting out things ready to go. Upon opening the blinds I saw how dirty the room was with left over crackers, fries, liquids on the wall etc. it was an overnight stay so I we just packed the kiddos and left.

My stay was very noisy. Walls are paper thin. All we heard the entire stay was doors slamming, kids running up & down the hallway, people talking very loudly in their rooms. And to top that off, my pillows came out of the pillow cases slightly & I could see the naked pillow was dirty. So I checked all my pillows & they were all dirty. So disgusting & disappointing.
