First of all, thank you, Edinburgh, for the beautiful weather, amazing castles, and breathtaking scenery. We had a wonderful time exploring the city. On a positive note, the breakfast was excellent—very tasty, varied, and filling. After breakfast, we did not feel hungry again until mid-afternoon.

Unfortunately, our experience at the hotel was mixed. When we arrived, there were only two reception staff members, and we had to wait around 20 minutes while they checked in other guests. When it was finally our turn, I gave my name, but the receptionist insisted on seeing a physical ID document. I explained that I only had a photo of my document, as I live in the UK and do not normally carry my documents with me. She told me that she could not register me in the system without the physical document. I was surprised because I have been travelling for over 10 years and have never experienced this before. I have stayed in hotels all over the world and never had any issues checking in. My booking was fully confirmed through Booking.com, and all registration details had already been provided. The receptionist then spoke with her colleague, who confirmed that the photo of the document was sufficient. She returned, apologized, and completed the check-in. However, I was then asked to complete an additional registration process, which took another 10 minutes. Overall, the check-in process was unusually long and complicated. In most hotels it takes no more than five minutes. After that, we wanted to go up to our room. The elevators were extremely slow, and only one elevator serves the spa and pool area, which caused additional waiting times. We were also disappointed that slippers and bathrobes were not provided in the room and had to be purchased separately. At breakfast, we experienced another frustrating situation. After giving our room number, a staff member insisted that we sit at a very small table for two people. At the same time, we could clearly see other guests choosing their own tables, including individuals sitting alone at larger tables designed for four or five people. We politely explained that we preferred a different table, but the staff member continued to insist.
