Pendry Chicago

I used my AMEX Platinum benefit for a stay at the Pendry Chicago. Sierra was the remarkable guest services agent who checked me in--and she went above and beyond for me! She upgraded me to an incredible corner suite and offered me a complimentary drink at the bar. She's a gem and I've already told all my colleagues and friends to visit the Pendry Chicago and ask for Sierra whenever they visit Chicago. My suite was very, very large and cozy with views of all of downtown. I was very comfortable sleeping there. My friends and I spent Saturday evening at the Pendry Bar. The drinks were made accurately and the ambiance was nice. I just wished the server was a bit more attentive to the guests, as we had to flag him down each time we wanted another drink. We spent well over the $100 AMEX bar credit because we were enjoying ourselves. Everyone was dressed very upscale and the bar exuded elegance and sophistication. For the $60 AMEX breakfast credit, I opted to go down to the restaurant and order my breakfast to go Sunday morning. I wasn't particularly happy with how the check-in host ignored me while I was waiting in line to ask where I need to order my breakfast to go. He saw me arrive, helped the customer in front of me, then proceeded to ask the customer BEHIND me if they had been helped, before they kindly told him that I was first. Then he rudely asked what I wanted. On the other hand, the cashier who took my order was a very friendly trans woman and I ended up giving her a huge tip for her hospitality. She was the complete opposite of the host and exuded excellent customer service. While I did not get the chance to visit the rooftop terraces and other public areas such as the gym, as a Black male, overall I was positively welcomed and will visit again in the future. Thank you, Sierra, the transwoman cashier, and the Pendry staff!

We had a wonderful stay for the weekend and enjoyed every moment of our time there relaxing in the hotel and the amenities.

This is the third time I’ve stayed at Pendry Chicago for a staycation with my mum. The first time we did it, it was just a fun idea during a year neither of us travelled much. It’s now become a fun tradition for us, and we love spending it at The Pendry. It’s a beautifully warm space with lots to offer! Venteux, the attached restaurant is excellent for dinner. The lounge is gorgeous and relaxing to pause between adventures - especially beside the fireplace. The welcome drink and morning hot drinks are a nice touch as well. From check-in to check-out, Pendry excelled in every way. It’s also incredibly located, a few minutes walk to shops, bars, restaurants. The CTA is right there, unlocking even more options. The only downside of being right on Michigan Avenue is probably the street traffic sounds. There were a few times we could hear sirens from the room (we were on the 17th floor) but it wasn’t constant and we sleep through most of it. The star of it all is the staff. Perry, the Bell Captain, and his team are incredible! He remembered us from our visit (2 and 4 years ago) and gave us all the latest updates of the area, the hotel, and was there to answer lots of our questions. So so friendly and really made our stay special. We’ll be back soon for the next staycation!

We cannot say enough about this amazing hotel! We have tried many, and we don’t stay anywhere else! Besides the beauty of this hotel and the rooms are great, what makes this hotel so special is the staff. The first person you see is Delopo… he transitions you from curbside to the hotel. He is on his toes and so happy to serve and have you there! Then there is Perry. Perry is your inside bellman who handles all the guests and the details with ease, and as if you are the only one there. He can also hail a pretty mean taxi. He then escorts you to the front desk for check-in and anything else you might need that he can’t provide. This is where you meet Annie who checks you in with a smile. She make sure you have everything you need. And last, but not least, there is Muriel. Muriel has been there for several years now and can literally almost work magic. Her attention to detail and willingness to make anything right is A+ and off the charts. I think she must work 24/7! With this dream team of staff, we won’t stay anywhere else, and they have all been there for several years. That says a lot.

Just an average place. Do NOT recommend breakfast. They gave a credit towards breakfast to lure people in there. Eggs Benedict was the worst that we have ever had. Pancakes didn't even taste good. Asked to remove charges from bill and it took so long that we couldn't wait anymore and left. Eat somewhere else. Rooms were just average. This was a disappointment.

Temperature control of the room was terrible. We could not cool the room below 70° with the thermostat. It was so warm that we had to try to open the window, which was almost impossible. To close the window my wife and I had to put our combined weight on it to close it. The bed didn’t even have a fitted sheet. It had a single normal sheet barely covering the mattress, and only a very heavy comforter. So we either had the warmest blanket or nothing at all. The mattress felt cheap and hard. Your hotel has a lot of nice perks,but you should focus on getting the basics right first.

We travelled to Chicago to experience Christmastime in the city and celebrate a milestone birthday. This was our second stay at Pendry Chicago; last time we stayed in a corner king room (2112) and this time we stayed in the one bedroom river view corner suite (2212). The suite was essentially the size of two rooms combined - one as a spacious bedroom with sitting table and bench and the other with a sitting table, bench, pull out sofa, and coffee table. The suite spanned the length of one side of the hotel, allowing for views in 3 directions! We stayed 8 nights and wanted to still enjoy some of our Christmas decorations, so you will see some lights, etc. in the photos posted that are our own (to avoid any confusion). It is a beautiful hotel, inside and out. It is a stunning historical building both on the outside and the lobby area by the elevators makes you feel like you are back in time with beautiful preserved designs. The rooms are clean, classy, light and airy, and well designed, with lots of outlets. The showers are comfortable and easy to use, with good water pressure. The toiletries are lightly fragranced and very nice (I don’t like fragrance so I brought my own of everything but tried the hotel’s a couple days before check-out and discovered how nice and light they were and that they didn’t bother me at all). The beds are on the firmer side with crisp linens and down duvets and pillows. You can also ask for foam pillows as well if you prefer. The robes are some of the softest I have felt (and are available for purchase as well). The location is perfect, a block from the river and at the top of the loop! There is a delicious Jasmine - Orange - Green Tea punch in the lobby that you can enjoy during your stay and are able to get spiked at the bar once during your stay. Some people really made our stay extra special and we are so grateful for that! The first was Muriel ~ she made our stay extra special last time and this time! She goes above and beyond to ensure guests know how to make the most of their stay and what the hotel offers so that their needs are taken care of. She is incredibly hard working, thoughtful, and is very knowledgeable about the property and Chicago! She made great suggestions on what buildings to go in and explore. Chris was the bellman who helped us on arrival bring our bags up to our room and oriented us to the property and room. He was very kind, warm, and helpful! After the first day, whenever we ran into Chris in the hotel, he made us feel so welcome and remembered us. He also was very hard working and would go above and beyond to make us feel valued and comfortable. Natalie first welcomed us to the hotel was often on in evenings when we would come back from being out for the day; she was always so warm and friendly, always was able to answer any questions, and ensured we had what we needed. Michael was the bellman who helped us with our bags on departure and he also was so kind and friendly, sharing some laughs and helping us with our things and ensuring we got the right taxi for our needs. My mom and I would often leave and come back together, but one evening my mom came back to the hotel on her own and Dolopo welcomed her back and walked her to the elevators, calling one for her, which was a personal and thoughtful touch! Annie the concierge was very knowledgeable and helpful and provided us with discounts for the ‘fly over Chicago’ experience (highly recommend)! The two main ladies from house-keeping (I am so sorry, I lost the note where I wrote down their names) who cleaned our room (2212) so beautifully during our stay (Dec 13-21) were always SO friendly and kind when we would see them in the hallway - we miss seeing them already! Why I would choose this hotel again: location, style, atmosphere, cleanliness, professionalism, helpfulness, quick elevators, lots of food/drink options on site from a coffee shop to bar to restaurant to rooftop, fridge/microwave/hot water kettle (available upon request, subject to availability), complimentary car service (first come first serve) on weekends within a 2 mile radius of the hotel, windows that open a little should you want that, mattresses/box springs are encased in a protective cover to ensure no nightmare insect hotel situations (I won’t write the word here, but if you care about that, you know what i mean and this hotel you will not have that concern and won’t feel like you need to obsessively check!) Things to be aware of: this hotel can get VERY busy and there can be waits and delays to check in/things delivered to your room, etc. Just keep that in mind if that is something that would dampen your experience. As well, with its prime location and being in the fun hustle and bustle of the city, there is some road noise, understandably; both times we had higher rooms so I can’t speak to how it is on the lower floors but in the 21st and 22nd floor it didn’t hinder sleep. All things considering, if you are looking for a professional team, clean accommodations, lots of history and style, and the perfect (in our opinion) location, Pendry Chicago could certainly be a good option for you! Great location to a great weekend in Chicago. A very historical building with a very cozy and comfortable lobby. The check-in took a while since there were long lines for the holidays. We were able to get a free upgrade, which was delightful. Sadly, we were disappointed that the room’s toilet was backed up, and after calling for fixing, the problem was still not fixed properly. We also dined at the French restaurant Vemteux on the first floor. The eggs Benedict with king crab was delicious. But the French onion soup was tasty but way way way too salty, and the mussels were sadly not very flavorful. So overall, other than a great location, was a bit disappointed in service and food.

We recently stayed here for three nights, and also had a photoshoot with a professional photographer in the bar area. The hotel itself is fantastic, great facilities, lovely to look at. The service is great - a special shoutout to Laura S (events coordinator) who helped us organised the photo shoot well within hotel guidelines. Massive appreciation from us both!
