La Chartreuse Du Val Saint Esprit

Lovely friendly welcome when we walked in. We asked if we could change our room to a brighter one and the lady on the desk was so helpful and moved us to a gorgeous room overlooking the gardens. The gardens are not manicured but have a wild but cared for feel. They lead down to a small lake and we were surrounded by Red Admiral butterflies and tweeting birds. swooping about. Well worth a wander before and after dinner. We had a drink in the garden before dinner. Again a lovely place to sit. We ate at Vasco in the evening , one of the on-site restaurants and the staff were friendly and attentive, I had the most delicious Ris de Veau with mushroom spaghetti and my wife had seafood risotto. Both delicious. Then one of the best Creme Brulee we have ever had. The wine list is great...short but covers every angle and well priced. Breakfast was ideal with fresh mini croissants and bread. Good choice of cereals and cold cuts. Presented well in a lovely room. They have restored this old chateau with great sympathy and the new wings fit in well. The old wooden staircase is a beauty to behold and the art around really compliments the building. Easy to find with good car parking. It was very good value and certainly there is a care and personal touch from the staff that we loved. We will certainly stay here again.

The location was excellent as were the grounds; the building was remarkable; restaurant for evening meal very good.

No help with luggage; air conditioning didn’t seem to work; no tea/coffee making facilities in the room; poor quality breakfast.

A beautiful historic building set in a quiet location very convenient for A26.

Getting a little tired in places; some refurb would be good to see.

Hele slechte bedden (matrassen) die zijn in de laatste 15 jaar niet meer vervangen, heel jammer dus bar slecht geslapen, maar goed het is en blijft een heel mooi hotel
