Tally Ho Inn

Hidden gem, nice view, great location, great service. Room has a fireplace and a large tv. Bed could have been a little better. Owners are super. We have been twice and enjoyed. Walk to almost everything in town. Would highly recommend. No kitchen or microwave but a refrigerator.

Magnificent view of the bay, friendly staff, Gene, is terrific, spacious room and luxurious bathroom, working gas fireplace, coffee and treats in the morning, brandy at night, breakfast across the street. Lots of hills to climb, be prepared. The happiest people, and most courteous drivers I've ever seen.

It’s a great location to be able to walk to just about anywhere on downtown Carmel.

For what we paid it is extremely disappointing. The room is tired looking. It really needs a remodel. It’s not 1986.

We have stayed at the Tally Ho Inn annually for 25 years! STAFF: It has the best staff anywhere , with Lucille, Gene, Jen and Nicole who have become like family to us! They go out of their way with kindness to make our visit the best possible experience! PARKING: the Inn has the best parking in Carmel with underground stalls for each guest….a REAL rarity in Carmel where parking can be a nightmare! LOCATION: the Inn has the best location to reach all of Carmel by walking. ROOMS: Outstanding at all price points. It’s simply the BEST!

Great location and nice view

Check in was at 4. We arrived at 4:30 on a Thursday and the office door was locked. had to wait in line at the affiliated hotel across the street to check in Fireplace was a pilot light. We were told that was all it was supposed to do. However, in the office and public area fireplaces, there were roaring fires?! The maintenance staff worked on it for a good part of the day but still just a pilot light. The fireplace insert needs to be replaced. This was for a room over $500 a night. TV wasn’t working properly. Had to have maintenance staff in several times to fix. Definitely a dated decor. No coffee maker in the room. Didn’t even try the spa tub as our experience with the tv and fireplace were so bad, why get disappointed again. Definitely not a do over. I don’t understand all the great reviews. We have stayed in Carmel by the sea before in great places but this was the worse. You can find better value for your $. By the way, we did get a $50 credit for a non working fireplace. Would have preferred the roaring fireplace .,

Very helpful front office, large room with nice balcony and view of the ocean. Excellent location for walking into town and down to the beach. Since we booked directly with the hotel , we were given a $25 breakfast certificate . The Tally Ho only has 12 rooms and is quiet.

The hotel has a basement parking, plus we were on the second floor so our view could see the ocean view from the window.

Quaint and sweet. Loved the European vibe, the Dutch door, outdoor fireplace setting. Staff was attentive. But the room could have used a little update. Some repairs needed to make it feel like the perfect getaway.

We stayed at the Tally Ho on the recommendation of friends. The hotel is a hidden gem! Our room was wonderful. We had a great view of the water, and even though you are a few blocks away, you can hear the waves. The room, with a fireplace and a heated bathroom floor, was ideal. The staff was very friendly, providing some wonderful recommendations. With on-site parking, most everything in Carmel is within walking distance. We will definitely return!
