Hotel Avenida Gran Via

The room was awful. The bathroom door did not close. The shower head did not work and to make things worse, the hand-held shower broke so there was water coming out of the bottom only. This happened the day before we left. The room's condition overall was depressing and deploring. The weather outside was on the cool side (not cold) the air condition was off throughout the hotel and the heater was on. When we went to bed we had to open the window to let a little air in and the noise was horrible. Lastly, when I logged in to check my reservation about three hours before departing. I find an email, sent that same day, telling me that my reservation had been cancelled because "they could not confirm my credit card" When I called to find out what had happened, neither Hotel.com nor the hotel in Madrid could give me an answer. They then made the reservation again and they charged me like a new reservation which was almost double. When I go to Madrid I spoken with them and explained that I had had that reservation for months and they cancelled it without contacting me for additional information, new card, etc. whatever the problem could have been and no one was able to tell me what had happened. They did not take that into consideration and I had the pay almost double the price. So no! We are not happy at all with the hotel and I would NEVER recommend it.

Excellent location, clean room and bigger than expected for Europe. Friendly, helpful staff with fluent English. Beds were hard and kept rolling all over the place in the middle of the night. A bit noisy, but you'd expect that for where you're located. Would definitely stay again, good value.

Excellent location, clean room,excellent staff... Great it had wifi!!! But... Floors were too squeeqy and bed was way too hard.

The hotel was as exspected. Not a 5 star but exactly what you need if you don't plan on spending your vacation in your hotel room.

The area was close to the center of city. Room is small but clean.

The room doesnt even look like the picture. The bed is extremely uncomfortable and hard. The shower is not cover properly, meanning if you take a bath the water goes all over the floor that is why the bathrooms floors are all lifting up because of water damage. Every time you take a step the floor makes noises. The room is overpriced. I did not have a good experience that is why I made sure to leave the room early in the morning andcome back late at night

This hotel is extremely well located in Madrid Midtown, the price quality ratio is good.

Easy to find and central location. Room was basic but clean, shower promised a lot but only seemed to work through the hand held attachment, my friend who had another room had the same problem but it was hardly a major issue. The little cafe is a good place to relax with coffee and churros. Would recommend as a safe option for a first visit to Madrid, the roads around are quite noisy during the night which was suprising as it was on a side street rather than the main road and the room next door to mine had a really creaky floor (or the people staying in it spent the whole night walking over the same bit).

Daytime receptionist should probably look for a new job as she's not really enjoying her position. Great location. Beds are okay but shower needs fixing. Liked the cafe downstairs and the nightime receptionist was very kind and helpful, particularly when I was suffering from food poisoning (not from the hotel buy a late night pizza kiosk nearby).
