Viva Tangerine by Wyndham, A Trademark All Inclusive

Nice size resort, everything walkable from our room. Ocean had steady waves during our stay in February. If you want calm waters, this is not your place. We enjoy bodysurfing so it was fine & they provide Boogie boards. Beware there is often a"Red Flag" up so you can't always go in the ocean, although the pool is very nice. We found the food very good, but that is always subjective. Stayed a few weeks & always had something we found tasty. Lots of vegetables/salads/pastas available in buffet. A-La-Cart restaurants: Mexican & Italian were very good, the "Melt" fusion one had less selection & smaller portions, we'd skip that. "Snack " area was very unimpressive; typically Burgers & fries/Pizza, not many options or healthy choices. Animation team were excellent with activities & shows. Nice variety of shows at night. Not sure about the smoking policy as there were "No Smoking" signs around but didn't seem to be enforced. One odd thing; schedule of activities was posted on their phone App, but it wasn't always accurate as sometimes the posted event never happened or was different. More annoying was when an event started earlier than the posted time. ( For example-schedule said "Bingo" was at 5:30, but often started much earlier so you'd miss out if you showed up "on time"). Walked into town a few times & always felt safe. Overall, enjoyed our stay & would return.

This resort was lively, and good for families. We went as a couple and enjoyed our time there, but could’ve been quieter. Buffet food was so so- there were many items I wouldn’t touch, but I always found something I liked. The restaurant food at dinner was delicious. There was a bit more soliciting on the beach than I wanted to deal with, but the beach was beautiful. Very windy with a lot of surf ( surprising to me, not the Caribbean water I’m used to). Very fun waves, but right across from resort they give you a hard time about swimming in them. Our solution was to walk further down the beach & go swimming there. Pool was big, & nice. No hot tub, though, which was misleading because in the property pics it shows a round pool with bubbles!! When I asked they said, “oh no, that’s a cold water spa” (as if anyone wants THAT) All in all I’d rate this resort as good. We enjoyed our time there, but I wouldn’t necessarily go back.

My partner and i just returned from a week at this resort. I would never return here & would be leery of staying at another Wyndham resort because of the "impression" this place left. We checked-in and wanted to take quick showers after traveling. There was enough water in the tank for the toilet to flush once. I went to wash my hands and no water came out of the bathroom faucet or shower head. Our room looked nothing like the room advertised on the internet. We booked a "Superior Ocean View" room; it looked very dated & was giving strong old-Ikea furniture vibes. The bed was lumpy & the frame felt like it would shake apart. All the resort amenities were in the same building as our room so our room was very loud. Once we had water restored, we did not have hot water. It was only mildly tepid after letting it run about 10 mins. We took fairly cold showers that night. After the first night, we had warm water every day. The food & drinks were below-average even by all-inclusive standards. Drinks are served in 6oz cups & with only 1 bar, there was always a line & 10-15 min wait. The best thing about the resort is that you can walk to the restaurants on the beach in Cabarete. Spend a few more dollars & stay somewhere else.
