Holiday Inn Express & Suites Halifax - Bedford by IHG

I booked this through a third party as i was looking for a cheap hotel but we used to stay here with the kids all the time for the water slide. I was woke up by housekeeping to clean the room at 0900 i wanted to sleep in. There were stains on my sheets prob. Wouldn’t come out but still, the remote control was dirty (prob the dirtiest thing in the room really), blinds had stains, There was a flood so the basement, pool etc all shut down inc. elevators, a lady on guard… not a good sign. Pool and everything shut down. I wouldn’t stay here again even if it is cheap.

Good location

No water for a shower Stormy weather came causing the power to go out. No swimming pool ( out of order) same for elevators, out of order. I was refused a discount

Manager was rude when approached about cost Mattress was worn needs replacement Front desk staff were pleasant

Excellent breakfast. Very clean breakfast area. Everything nicely displayed and labeled.

I wish the time for the breakfast lasted longer than 9:30 am. I would have liked it to end at 10:30 am.

My wife being accused of breaking the law from that lady on the morning shift. Could have been helpful

The room was clean, spacious and comfortable and staff were nice.

When I checked in I went to my room and there was a guest in our corridor outside their room having an altercation/argument on the phone and with other people, shouting and swearing very loudly, this resulted in the police being called and went on for nearly 2 hours, we wanted to leave our room and go out but felt uncomfortable leaving and having to pass by this lady and police while this was going on. It ruined our first day in the hotel. At night time there was also a lot of other guests in and out of rooms slamming doors and talking loudly in the corridors, as well as other guests would go outside the exit on the first floor and sit on the grass directly outside our window and smoke and chat very loudly until the early hours of the morning which did not help when trying to sleep. I understand it may be difficult to stop individuals from behaving poorly but there could be signs and more staff around to make sure guests remain quiet at certain hours and respect other guests, especially when gathering directly outside rooms having cigarettes etc.
