The location was spectacular! We loved that we were right outside of Edinburgh! The staff were so kind and friendly, they even were able to accommodate us earlier than expected. The breakfast...PERFECTION...and the atmosphere was so enchanting. Well worth the price!!! We plan on coming back!!!

The carpet could use a deep clean...but other than that, we loved everything else!!!

The Melville was stunning! The grounds were beautiful and the interior of the castle was like you were stepping back in time and staying in a fairytale. All of the staff were so kind and helpful. I had the prettiest room with a gorgeous canopy bed. We didn’t get a chance to try the breakfast, so I can’t speak to that, but we did have apps at the library bar and they were decently good! We had a professional photographer come and take photos before we went to a fantasy ball and the staff went above and beyond to allow us to do this free of charge and helped us pick out some amazing photo shoot locations on the property. Though the Melville is not super close Edinburgh, we loved our stay there and didn’t mind the short taxi ride to the hustle and bustle of the city.

I loved my room and have no complaints, however my friends had some furniture in their rooms that could have used a little love or replacing.

The aesthetics of the property were great. 90% of the staff were friendly and helpful

The chefs are horrible. To be specific…My soup had a clump of hair. Every morning I ordered the poached eggs, but they were essentially hard boiled eggs. My wife’s omelette was continually burnt. Afternoon tea, we were served a vegetarian tower, instead of the traditional tower. Also we had a significant problem with rooms. My elderly mother in law informed the front desk that she has trouble with stairs, they gave her a room with stairs leading up to the bed. We had to change rooms with her which was both uncomfortable for us and her. I did tell the front desk and they informed me that she paid for an upgraded room and that is what was available. No offer to refund or correct the situation

They need anew chef who knows how to cook. Hair in soup, over cooked food and burnt desserts don’t make the grade❗️❗️
