Kyoto style small inn Iru

Wybraliśmy to miejsce z uwagi na możliwość przeżycia paru dni w typowo japońskim domu, śpiąc na tatami i korzystając z pomieszczenia kuchennego w tradycyjnym stylu. Ten pensjonat całkowicie spełnił nasze oczekiwania pod tym względem. Pani, która nas przyjęła była bardzo miła, pomocna i komunikatywna.

Należy jednak zaznaczyć, że warunki w pensjonacie są dosyć spartańskie, które mogą nie odpowiadać każdemu. Choć z opisu było wiadomo, że łazienka jest wspólna, to byliśmy zaskoczeni, że jest tylko jedna łazienka na 5 pokoi (czyli co najmniej 10 osób). Można z niej korzystać w ograniczonym czasie, co powoduje kolejki. Korytarz do łazienki jest pod gołym niebem. W chłodną porę roku korzystanie z łazienki wiąże się z narażeniem na niską temperaturę. Jest to to stary dom, ale mógłby być lepiej odświeżony ( brudne ściany). Śniadania bardzo skromne, np. wyliczone 3 tosty i dżem. Podsumowując, jest bardzo oryginalnie, ale dla mało wymagających ludzi.

The ryokan style accommodation facilities were nice. Western toilets were great. Lovely shared kitchen with breakfast (breads, juice, tea & coffee). A number of small style Japanese resturants /bar and 2 excellent bath houses - 550Y close by. Also 7/11 convenience store (food, cooking supplies, alcohol and atm) only a short walk away.

The futon matress was very thin which resulted in this Westener having uncomfortable sleeps (despite tatami mats). The bath is only suitable for a child so go to the amazing bath houses (one litterally across the road). Pushbikes were available for 500Y per day but you needed to prebook. In Kyoto (Japan) it rains frequently (October) so I checked the weather each day before deciding what I was doing. As there was no staff around, I tryed to take a bike (pay later) but all the bikes were locked. Hardly ever saw staff - In my 8 day stay: I was checked in (despite being there most nights).

I loved everything about this place: the layout of the room, the authenticity of the building, the deco all around, the little garden and the sweetest people who work there, including the owner. We unfortunately only could stay 1 night because it was fully booked. We slept on the 1st floor, had no noice at all and slept extremely well. The breakfast is simple but in such a lovely room and we met super interesting other guests. The area has lots of cute delicious local restaurants, far away from the touristy places. It was my favourite place in Kyoto and I will definitely come back.

The stuff was so nice to let me arrive a bit before the check in and also to sleep a bit longer at my check out as I went to a birthday party the night before. I was just one night here but I would definetly book it again. The location is really good and aswell the place is really sweet.
