Oak Motel Palo Alto

No first floor rooms but only a few cars in parking lot? Heater did not work on a night in the 30s - hair in bathroom- broken sink fixtures in bathroom - left over shaving hair/foam…never again

Front desk person was very kind. Bathroom was gross, toilet lid had urine stains on the under side of the lid. Mini Fridge made noise throughout the night. Not a great stay

Turning on the heater smelled like cigarettes, plus side love the tub and the size of room is commendable

Check in: not allowed in the lobby. I had to go to a window and I could only hear the reception person through a mail slot….that should tell you about setting the tone.

Second story View of hotel grounds across the street beautiful. No smoke alarms-just spot in ceiling where they should be. Room next to water heater. Sounded like freight train starting about midnight for few hours.

This property is in a great location, an easy bike ride (2.5 miles) from Stanford. It has easy parking and there is a very nice moderately priced restaurant (Dinah's Poolside Restaurant) right across the street. The property is moderately run down but adequately clean. There is a pool which I have never seen anyone use. I have stayed here several times and have never felt unsafe. The price of base $108 per night is hard to beat in the area. The front desk area is not used; the front desk people 'greet' you through a tiny little slot in the wall indicating that maybe they don't feel safe. Overall, an excellent choice if you need a relatively inexpensive adequate place to stay in this area. It's my 'go-to' in Palo Alto.
