Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte Matthews

We chose a location that was convenient for us, a well-known brand and an acceptable, fair price.

The AC system was outdated and noisy, and we were unable to adjust the temperature to a comfortable level.

The check in was great. She was very nice and quick. We got to our room, it was a little warm. We turned the air down. It never got cool. We went down to look at the pool. It was green! Couldnt see through it. Thats one of the main reasons I booked this place. Too bad we cant use the pool. At midnight the ac unit started making a loud noise. My daughter couldnt sleep. She went to the truck to cool off and get some sleep. She had a state test the next morning at 7:45. So much for a relaxing night.

The carpet smelled old and need to be replaced.

For the most part . I would say that they were understaffed. It took 45 minutes to check in and somehow there were two reservations and my card was charged 3 times . I will admit that most of the staff was professional at night time however, sitting on your cell phone while at the front desk didn’t seem inviting .

We are local and were celebrating my younger son's birthday. His only request was to stay at a hotel with a pool. We get there the pool was closed because someone pooped in it. We were told it would open again at 10 am in the morning so I got a late check out thinking we could at least have an hour. It still was not operating. There were lots of food stains in furniture and a ripped curtain. No towels in the gym. The staff was nice enough and thankfully we had vouchers for the bistro but that food is too expensive for what was offered.

Pool was closed! This was the main reason we stayed. Another hotel nearby at least put online that the pool was being remodeled and thus the reason we booked the Marriott. Imagine 3 kids looking at a pool that was closed and it not being worked on not red tape nothing just a sign on the door. Their reason something happen in the pool from a guest and they were waiting until it wasn’t cloudy. Like what? They have a Starbucks only serve hot coffee nothing more. How does Starbucks let a business put their name on something that only serves hot coffee nothing more they are also not open all day just specific times. The entry totally fooled us the room smelled like Pot, dirty blankets, used hand soap, dirty carpet, holes in walls, no AC in hallways, it smelled gross. The room phone did not work to call the reception desk. Tammy and Aaron were at the front desk and were very nice to us but that was about it. I would not return and I can’t believe it is a Marriott! Can’t be ran this way. They will close!

Mostly everything!

Worst experience I’ve ever had traveling. The furniture was disgusting and had stains, the carpet was filthy and pieced together in the hallways. We had zero room service, no fresh towels or trash removed, no coffee refreshed. The pool was filthy and you couldn’t even see the bottom of it. All umbrellas were broken and wouldn’t open. Toilet got stuck every time it was used and run nonstop. Everything could be heard through the wall vents.
