"Disappointed but great staff working hard"

6.0

This is without doubt the worst and most tired hotel in the Bahia Principe chain. I thought the staff were really good and tried hard. Our room was kept as good as you can by our Maid with facilities that have been in service for years so absolutely no complaints there. The hotel needs work and to be honest we were very underwhelmed by our stay. We are longstanding Black band loyalty programme guests but we are very disappointed with the changes that have been made to the loyalty programme since the Hyatt merger. During our stay it basically allowed us to have a free safe. No room upgrade, no early check-in, no premium WiFi, no transfer, no extra a la carte restaurant bookings. So I do not see any benefit from the loyalty programme. The food was fine but I honestly can't remember a single dish during our stay that made me think wow that's good. The bar menu and drink options are very limited to undrinkable local spirit or lager and having stayed with competitors Hotels I think they have definitely fallen behind. Our room was made up like a double bed but it was actually 2 single beds made up with single beds with terrible mattresses, single bed sheets and blankets which was disappointing if you come on holiday to enjoy spending time with your partner and not be less comfortable than you are at home. The car parking was expensive at €15 per night especially as they had capacity to take parking. We enjoyed the daytime activities and the entertainment team tried hard and were really friendly and chatty and a good mix of activities. The evening entertainment was mixed at best. There was a singer who played an electric guitar and he carried the room well and he was good. In contrast the magician was terrible and time I will never get back but too embarrassed to leave. In summary if you enjoy spending time time in a care home with most guests over retirement, in a outdated hotel with a limited local spirit bar and food that is very forgettable, in a separate uncomfortable bed from your partner then this is definitely the place for you. Not to mention the rude and unfriendly old miserable foreign guests who look at you like you shouldn't be there making you feel very unwelcome but hopefully if you stayed it will obviously be luck of the draw on who is also staying there at the same time.

"Hotel well below 4 star grading. Food simply dreadful."

4.0

Hotel generally tired and in need of refurbishment. Hotel was cold in every area and had no heating. Worst of all the food was simply dreadful. Consistently served cold with no plate heating ( didn’t work). Food was either undercooked or over cooked. Served frozen vegetables that were so over cooked they were inedible. Cheap ingredients , chefs not interested in quality. Food nowhere near a 4 star hotel rating. Quite the worst quality I have ever experience I have ever had in a hotel restaurant. New furniture arrived in the lobby whilst we were there but none of it matched either to each other or the decor. This hotel was so poor in almost every department. I will not be using the hotel brand again.

"Good break with some sun"

8.0

A well located hotel but needs a revamp especially the rooms. Not really a fan of climbing into a bath to get a shower. The staff were mainly friendly and helpful. Pool area was very well maintained. Food and drink was pretty decent. However wine was a little ropey. Certain times there were long queues at meal times. As a group we had a fun 5 nights. One down side was the parking charge of 15€ a day. You had no choice as there was nowhere to park.

"Excelencia y calidad"

10.0
