"We had a very nice overnight! I’d recommend it."

9.0

I don’t usually prefer hotel restaurants partly because we line to explore local flavors but, because it was frigid outside and we weren’t familiar with the area we had dinner and breakfast in house. Both were very, very good! A happy surprise!

There is no on site parking. We used valet parking.

"A classic overnight for a Christmas getaway before the holiday started."

Great vibe of a classic hotel and an excellent location to walk the old section of the city. Park your car and forget it.

"Excellent hotel in a great location."

10.0

An excellent hotel with a great spa. This was our second stay here and we have enjoyed both stays very much. The location is perfect, right in the center of the old port district.

"Best place to stay in Portland."

10.0

Have been staying here for years and would not consider staying anywhere else since where else if your destination is old town and the waterfront. Facilities and people are great year in and year out.

"Our go-to hotel in Portland"

10.0

This has become our go-to place when visiting Portland. The hotel is as centrally located as you can get, five minutes at most away from the best restaurants and bars, with some of them, like Blyth & Burrows, a lot closer than that. The hotel is an historic building, and is decorated in understated elegance, especially the Lounge. They really gussy the place up for Christmas, with flowers and plants and winterberries. The staff is professional. These are not people who are working their way through school or doing this on the side. This is their profession, they take it seriously and the level of attention to detail and courtesy shows. The hotel offers packages all year round, and the winter package, which includes valet parking and up to $40 credited toward your breakfast, is a great deal. Portland is nice year round, but especially at Christmas time. The breakfast at restaurant offers things you won’t find at Cracker Barrel: eggs Benedict with lobster, smoked salmon frittata, etc. John, one of the waiters, originally from Jamaica Plain in Boston so he understood my accent, has been a bartender, too, and he created a Bloody Mary that is spicy but the aftertaste is smooth and cool because it’s infused with cucumber. The missus had two and is taking a nap now before we hit the road home to Vermont. To paraphrase The Terminator, we’ll be back.

"My “Go To” choice!"

10.0

From the moment I stepped out of my vehicle and was warmly greeted by the valet to check out, The Regency exuded a warm, comfortable and welcoming vibe. Unlike the other downtown properties that are overdesigned to “out chic” one another, The Regency exudes Portland’s Olde Port intimacy. The room was well designed, comfortable and tastefully appointed. Definitely my “go to” choice for Portland.
