Penta Hotel

We stayed at the Penta Hotel for 4 nights in May. It is in a reasonably priced , clean, comfortable hotel in an ideal position on Douglas seafront. We travelled by ferry and we walked to the hotel which took about 20 minutes but we got a taxi back when we left. The sister hotel along the road arranged this for us and it wasn't very expensive. We absolutely loved the Isle of Man and wished we had stayed longer, no need for a car with all the quaint and lovely transport available plus regular busses. Definitely hope to return before too long.

Friendly staff, clean room hotel in good location. Although should you travel to the island by boat as a foot passenger on the ferry i recommend getting a taxi from the sea terminal if you can't walk far

For a 3 night stay this hotel is idea for a simple no frills stay. Easy check in , a small lift (2 people with luggage ) or the stairs , for 1 person the room is large , good bathroom with a shower in the bath , terrific hot water with great water pressure, the bed not so comfortable would for 3 days you can survive , tea & coffee (no fridge) , plenty of lights , free Wi-Fi. Continental breakfast is included , basic would Ok ,the location is on the promenade , 5 minutes to the Electric Tram , 1 minute to a bus stop & 15 minutes to the Gaiety Theatre. I would recommend for a short stay.

Very nice & clean. Would stay again. The only bad thing was the lift. It was very small.

Amazing hotel, really friendly and helpful staff. Rooms clean and large, perfect for a trip away.

Wifi didn't really work, toilet didn't flush amd we were given one big towel between us. You had to call through to another hotel if you needed anything and wait for someone to come which we weren't used to. The staff member who checked us out could have been a bit more friendlier and talkative to ask how the stay was etc instead of a quick ok when handing the key back. Otherwise everything was there we needed and we had a comfortable nights sleep.

Stayed here for a couple of nights recently. The hotel location was great with views out to sea from the 4th floor room. The room was comfortable with everything provided. The breakfast buffet was basic but perfectly adequate. Special shout out to James who was very friendly and helpful!

The Penta is an unpretentious hotel offering perfectly comfortable accommodation for a reasonable price. My room was large and clean, as were the bed and bathroom. Furnishings were plentiful if a bit like kitchen units - but there was loads of cupboard / wardrobe space. Complimentary light breakfast included: again, nothing fancy, but perfectly acceptable. The off-site Reception (telephone link to the sister hotel) seems a little weird at first, but actually works perfectly well. I'd really like to be able to give this three and a half stars, but the system doesn't allow it.

After 2 years, we returned to the hotel. This time we stayed in Suite 1 on the ground floor. With a sea view, this was very spacious with a seating area, a bed that you could get lost in and a huge bathroom with modern fittings. The place was still spotless throughout and the staff helpful. For a budget hotel, the value is excellent. A light continental style breakfast is included, consisting of cereals, yoghurt, toast and tea/coffee on a serve yourself basis. This is fine for us, but there are cafes on the promenade that do the fried breakfasts. The location is not far from Derby Castle and the Electric Railway(tram) to Ramsey. A way from the ferry terminal, but there are frequent buses along the promenade, some going to Port Erin. We would be happy to stay here whilst visiting the island, as it has the frills that we need without the ones like a restaurant and bar that push the price up.

We stayed from 8-13 June 2019 after staying at the Sefton Hotel from 4-7th. The Penta does have a funny old lift that only just fits two people with bags. The bathroom facilities are brilliant, the rooms very warm, at first we thought two single dooners on the bed was strange- but it was fantastic, the bed in our room was comfortable and the simple breakfast was ok for us. We were checking in late and emailed to let them know and they made the key available to us from the Regent Hotel 5 mins up the road. We had no vehicle so parking was not required. We would stay again
