Homewood Suites by Hilton Columbia, SC

I liked how close it was to the zoo. I liked that there was a complimentary breakfast. Never stayed the first night thought because how dirty the rooms were.

My room was disgusting, it was on the 2nd floor. They gave me a new room, it was still dirty, gave me another one, it was also dirty. Both of those rooms were on the 4th floor. I had to go to a different hotel.

Breakfast was good and evening reception was nice.

The fire alarm went off every hour all night long. We had to evacuate around 9 PM with all of our children from the fifth floor, which was frustrating and then being awakened all night long with the loud fire. Alarm was really frustrating. We didn’t get any apologies from the staff although otherwise I would’ve said it was a good place and I like Homewood suites.

How close we were to everything. Breakfast and staff were nice.

Lots of stains and damage to the room itself. There was a random door we believe went to the room next to us as well. All of the dishes were dirty and sitting on top of cabinets that had a good bit of water damage. There was a smell in the room as well as the floor feeling too dirty to remove shoes.

The elevator button wouldn't work unless you pressed it "just so." A staff member said, "We told them that needed fixing." Door to room first opened with difficulty and then didn't open at all. Receptionist came up and said, "Oh, the battery needs to be replaced." Sounds like there is a lot of deferred maintenance.
