Pacific Resort Rarotonga

Pacific Resort Rarotonga was beautiful and deeply relaxing, with unbeatable access to Muri Beach and the lagoon. The staff were exceptional, providing warm and attentive service throughout our stay. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the resort felt authentic rather than flashy, which we appreciated. The gardens were stunning, and our daughter thoroughly enjoyed the kids’ club activities.

Idyllic location in the edge of the lagoon, with hardworking, pleasant staff. Excellent snorkeling and if lucky, you will see turtles. Buffet breakfast will be adequate for most palettes. It's a quiet resort so a good place to relax, away from the louder resorts elsewhere on the island. Handy small supermarket 200m away next to the sailing club.

We stayed Dec 2025. Note: We have stayed in some of the most beautiful resorts around the world, so our expectations at 4.5 stars was quite high. Beautiful location, check in was good. Rooms are at best average for the amount you pay (need a revamp) & staff are a bit hit n miss. The Filipino and Indonesian staff we met across the complex were wonderful. It’s very obvious that they love and appreciate their jobs more than others. There was one young pretty lady at reception that my daughter overheard talking rudely about us to another staff member😕 so sad. The pool was a great (right next to our room but there are dangerous sharp tiles that need to be sorted in both pools . The breakfast was very disappointing, but the staff were absolutely fabulous. The beach/lagoon are gorgeous and the complimentary kayaks and snorkelling gear were an awesome addition. The island was cool too! Housekeeping was shocking.. We had to ask for our bed linen to be changed (stayed 7 days), sand in beds, tiles in the room are very slippery, 1 small bar of soap for 7days, wet cloth in kitchen never replaced and had to ask for shampoo n conditioner twice during our stay. Towels were replaced daily but still looked stained/dirty. I know they’re trying to be green/eco conscious but theyre giving stingy vibes/not clean & green. The roosters will do your head in- every single morn 4-5am without miss! And if your staying near the car park which we were, the cars, the noisy people and the neighbours can be heard at all hours. The walls are paper thin- we could hear all our neighbours conversations. And lastly, the most concerning issue . My 2yr old found a voltaren tablet on the floor (previous guests) and put it in her mouth(thought it was a lolly). Lucky for us we noticed it quickly and threw it out. We did have a good time but feel this resort does not meet the 4.5 star rating (based on other international hotels we have stayed at with similar ratings). Some of the staff needs tune up. It does however have huge potential to be fabulous.

My partner and I just returned from an amazing week in the Cook Islands. Including 4 nights at Pacific Resort Rarotonga, and I honestly don’t think I’ve ever felt more relaxed. The story of how we got there is a bit of a dream—I was lucky enough to win a competition for a stay at the resort both Pacific Resort! Being from Australia, we’ve seen some beautiful beaches, but the Muri Lagoon is something else entirely. The Highlights The Unexpected Upgrade: We arrived expecting a Garden View room (which I’m sure would have been lovely), but we were absolutely blown way when Zee (Staff) he inform us that we had been upgrading to a room with direct beach access. I don’t know who was more excite by this news Zee or us. Stepping out of our door and having our toes in that white sand within seconds was pure magic. Also nice and close to Bare Foot Bar and restaurant (which we didn’t hear any noise from) The Lagoon: The water is crystal clear and so blue it looks like a postcard. We spent hours snorkelling and using the free kayaks right out the front of the resort. The fish life is vibrant, and the water is calm and warm. The Vibe: The resort is a family resort. We might have left the pool area for the kids to enjoy (lots fun being had with laughter and screaming). However, as a 60 year traveling with my partner the beach chair on the beach was the place for us, quiet and relaxing with great view. Plus, able to enjoyed cocktails on the beach especially at happy hour. I appreciate a resort that is upscale but not “stuffy." The staff are the heart of this place—genuine, warm, and always ready with a "Kia Orana" and a smile. Great Location: Just a short walk to Night Markets (yummy food). Had fun catching to local bus that travels around the island which got us to everywhere we need to go. Verdict: Whether you win a trip like we did or save up for a special occasion, this place is worth every cent. It’s a true Polynesian paradise that we won't soon forget.
