Watarase Onsen Hotel Yamayuri

An excellent stay. The staff could not do enough for you. The facilities and room were excellent - particularly the private and public onsens. Dinner and breakfast were a great voyage of Japanese dishes and were all extremely tasty and filling.

I could have done with an option of having an extra pillow on the bed as my head laid quite low but apart from that it was all to an excellent standard.

Yksityinen onsen oli ihan paras. Alue on viihtyisä, etenkin jos on auto käytössä, muuten kaikki on vähän liian kaukana. Kävelymatkan päässä oli kuitenkin oikein viihtyisä izakaya.

Yksityistä onsenia ei pystynyt varaamaan etukäteen, vaan piti kytätä, että milloin olisi vapaana. Huone oli vähän kulahtanut. Hinta on varsin korkea verrattuna laatuun.

The private onsens were amazing and well worth not having an ensuite shower. Perfect after the day's challenging hike, and also because of my tattoos. No booking ahead of time required too. Food (kaiseki) was refined, fantastic, and very filling. We also really liked the cafe at the public bath side which had beer (draft, bottled, local craft, commercial), ice cream, and other izakaya style food.

I liked the private Onsen and helpfulness of the staff. First Yukata worn and dinner/breakfast with several courses.

For anyone doing the Kumano Kodo, I didnt have a choice to book this accomodation but it is not made for hikers. Dinner is a lot of fancy courses as well as breakfast which is beautiful but don't really feed you well after or to start a hike. That being said there is nothing better than an Onsen after a hike! 😇

Local incrível, uma experiência imersiva na cultura japonesa. Tivemos um jantar maravilhoso e tomamos banho num tradicional onsen. O quarto é limpo, organizado e bonito. A equipe muito solicita e nos ajudaram em tudo que precisamos. Vale muito a pena!
