"A gorgeous hotel with room to improve"

6.0

I wish I could give this hotel a five star review. The property is gorgeous, and everyone who works here is very nice. Our room was spacious and beautiful. The Vietnamese restaurant on property is incredible. The pool, while overcrowded, is gorgeous. However, there are a few service areas where the hotel does not deliver. We were here for our wedding and had met with a member of the staff to look into setting up a room block. We could not get together enough people to put together the room block so we emailed and told them we decided to book on our own. At check in, we told them it was our wedding weekend as well. While we didn't need to receive anything free as a token from the front desk, it would have been nice to have a note or any acknowledgement of our wedding during our stay. I came to the front desk one morning and saw macaroons behind the desk and assumed they were for us, but they were sent to another wedding party at the hotel. It was one of the most important weekends of our lives, we were staying in one of the nicest rooms on property, and it would have been nice if the hotel made our weekend feel special. They did not. We mentioned our disappointment at check out and were given a weak apology. In addition, the hotel maid/turn down service was not good. Basically, all they do is replace towels and make the bed. Nothing was ever straightened up or made presentable. Used cups and garbage would be left out in the room. Toilets were not cleaned. We spent valuable time cleaning our own room to make it presentable for our guests. It would have been nice to return to a clean room. For the price you pay at this hotel, we would have expected more. The location is alright if you have a car, the rooms are great, the atmosphere is amazing, and the service is friendly but lacking in key areas. The rooms are clean but not cleaned. I wouldn't choose this hotel for my wedding weekend. We have stayed at many other hotels in the city and chose this one because we thought it would make our wedding extra special. They failed in key areas, and I would not stay there again. I will, however, be returning to the Vietnamese restaurant. It was just that good.

"Excellent"

8.0

It’s a beautiful property with amazing decor and many choices for food and drink. However it seems they are more focused on generating revenue from events and dining over hotel guests and quality of services. There seems to be no one in charge, greeting hotel guests and ensuring a good stay. Even the set up is not focused on hotel guests. You can access your room without ever passing through the main lobby. It was extremely disappointing that my room was never cleaned on day and no manager was aware. They can do better with more focus on hotel guests. Also the ‘coffee’ in the chapel was awful. Should have a machine to make fresh coffee for guests as needed. I will not stay here again mostly because of lack of interest in hotel guests over externals and special events. Seems hotel is an afterthought.

"Great vibe"

10.0

The room was quite small but very nice with a very confortable bed. Loved the shower pressure. The vibe of the hotel was awesome, we enjoyed staying in the patio just chilling and sippin’ on some aperol spritz. There was only one issue that they charged my CC upon check in when it was already prepaid through hotels.com. I told them and they immediately said they were going to cancel it. I’m still waiting mt refund though (I know it can take up to 10 business day). Very nice restaurants within walking distance (loved the espresso at Mojo just around the corner). Nice burrata and drinks at St Vicents’ bar. Overall I would definitely stay there again! I believe we loved Nola so much because we stayed at St Vicent rather then downtown or the french quarter.

"Stay away"

4.0

Greeted coldly from the start. Given a horrible tiny attic room with ONE 12x12 inch window. Granted room change with larger window. Fire alarm went off three times in one night. Hot water on only one of five days. Cockroach in the hotel room. This is not five stars, but pretends to be. Never again.

"A delight!"

10.0

The staff was great. I loved all of the lush plants on the verandas, courtyards. There are so many places to enjoy a beverage and visit. It was cooler and wetter than expected for our trip so didn't get to enjoy the pool, but it was lovely with an outdoor bar. Our room had a very comfortable bed with walk in closet and rainfall shower. Dinner at San Lorenzo was so good! The best salmon I've ever had.

"Chaotic and understaffed operation, terribly disrespectful service"

2.0

We are in an aestheitcally lovely suite that lacked hot water in the shower. It took over an hour to get the shower fixed, and the engineer who finally fixed it wore boots in the bathroom and shower despite our request that he wear shoe covers. He offered to send housekeeping afterward, but no one came to clean despite our calls to follow up. As a result we wasted another hour of our day in a holding pattern before cleaning it ourselves. We paid around $1,800 for this room night that has been a source of stress, frustration and a waste of time. We have been offered nothing but sarcasm for our trouble. The engineer explained to me that the Austin-based hotel ownership is concerned with only the form and not the function of the building. He said that he fixes a lot of plumbing issues at this hotel because of lack of investment. He's not an employee. The hotel does not even employ a single engineer, he explained. The St. Vincent is the only hotel in the city that he knows of that does not filter the hard city water, and it causes problems like the one that has affected us. The front desk staff was maddening rude. I have not been to Dick's Last Resort but now I feel like I have; the attitude from the front desk staff here is so over the top that it would make a good bit. There is no concierge. There is NO MANAGER on duty. It's a case study in how not to operate in hospitality. I wish I had read a review like this before booking here.

"Treated Like Garbage, Big Easy Style"

2.0

My wife and I planned a trip to New Orleans and were very excited to stay at Hotel Saint Vincent. We made our reservation last November, but today, 6 days before we travel, we received a message saying that, owing to a “buyout,” they were canceling our reservation. 6 DAYS. No offer of compensation. No offer of assistance finding accomodation elsewhere. Nothing. I have spent my career in hospitality and I have NEVER encountered anything so brazenly unpleasant and unprofessional. Unless you’re happy being treated like complete garbage, I’d recommend that you NOT stay here

"Exceptional"

10.0

Excellent staff— incredibly engaging reception and assistance from every member of staff I encountered. The property and grounds are top notch in their sense of art & design. It was ongoing eye candy from room to room. Whoever decorated has an exceptional eye and sense for how to put things together— the historic property meets with a freshness that made me feel comfortable and like I wanted to explore every nook. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
