"NOT AS ADVERTISED: aka THE OTTAWA DISASTER"

2.0

Where to begin! This was advertized as a pet friendly Bed and Breakfast, and Spa, with free WiFi. None of this was true. It was filthy; the dust and human hair on the floor in our room clung to the dog's chew toys within moments of our arrival. The other rooms were filled with clutter: old electronics, stacks of junk, and there was construction going on in the upstairs kitchen. The B&B was NOT pet friendly; the owners' dog is afraid of other dogs and barked constantly when my dog was around, so my dog was isolated for the entire stay in the 9x10 foot "East Room". The website advertised a continental breakfast, which calls to mind pastries, maybe a bowl of fruit, or yogurt with granola, and perhaps the option of a hard boiled egg... Nope; none of that. We were fed two slices of toast with butter and jam. That's it. They wanted to charge us extra for parking and the dog. The small, icy parking lot was shared with the neighbors so the cars had to be moved frequently. Keys were left in a common space. The WiFi was too slow to be functional. We could not investigate places that we wanted to visit in Ottawa, on our own. For instance; Parc Omega, where the owners assured us that the dog could come along (they bring their dog all the time!). But of course, dogs are not allowed in a wildlife park! We had to turn around and drive 1hr and 15mins back to Ottawa. If we could have visited the website, we could have checked for ourselves, and not wasted the gas.

"Best little secret in town"

10.0

Beautiful and well taken care of, the owner were more then happy to recommend great little eating establishments. My visit was during the Van Gogh exhibit, when the owners found out I was an artist they were very eager to direct me to the museum, very much appreciated since I was in town for only one day, it was a beautiful. Good breakfast, great conversation, all in all a wonderful experience. I recommend making reservations.

"This is a last resort..."

2.0

This was very disappointing, more like a very cheap student lodging. Only one bathroom for all the rooms! No clock, no phone, no a/c, no tv, no radio. Overall it was very poor, but the people we're nice.

"Interesting experience."

8.0

This a very budget oriented hotel in every aspect except the price. It was the most expensive accommodation in our visit to Canada. The host are extremely pleasant people, not only hospitable but like a family, helpful and a great source of support. The shared bathroom, the soft mattress, and a casual setting, reminds me more of a youth hostel than a spa. But I had a great time.

"Friendly, clean, safe, good location, thrifty."

10.0

The wife and I (mid twenties) used DT BnB as a quieter and homier alternative to a hostel (yet comparable in price). A very charming house owned by a very charming couple. Rooms were clean and simple; bed, desk, dresser, closet. Free WIFI. The location was great; across from the Canadian Museum of Nature. Very quiet. Note that friendly dogs will visited rooms when doors are left open. We enjoyed this as we're pet lovers; other folks may not. We enjoyed our stay and will come back again when in town. We recommend DT BnB to others seeking a simple, quiet and thrifty place to stay at the heart of Ottawa. Not recommended for those expecting a four star resort or the narrow minded types.
