Hotel Viru Viru II

Perfect location for quick access to the airport for an early morning flight.

Staff came and disrupted us several times. Even though we had made clear we wanted an 11:30 pm taxi and needed to sleep the new staff knocked at 9:00 to ask when we wanted to go and then again at 11:00 to say the taxi was there. The place is pretty run down and could use a good sprucing up.

The room was awful. Bedding was old, very worn, with holes and patches. Bathroom with no hot water for the shower, leaks, and stains. With the same price (transport included) you can get a decent, nicer room in town. Really don't waste your money.

The short distance to the airport is the only positive. Beds were comfy as well, to be fair, and the room did have air con, and plugs near the bed.

The "free transfer" was quoted as 60 bolivianos by a woman waiting at arrivals with a sign advertising the hotel as 5 mins from the airport. They said they'd give us a free transfer there if we gave a review? Okay, here's the review. First off, next morning we got a local taxi to the airport and paid 17Bs. 60Bs is a ripoff. Mainly though, this hotel is filthy and badly run. Rust, grime, and dead insects in the non-functional bath (taps missing, no plug). Shower was okay but took 5 minutes to get barely warm. Running it for 5 mins was the hotel rep's solution when we reported this. While waiting, she saw me find a clump of someone's hair stuck to an old towel on top of a wardrobe at my eye level. Admittedly the average Bolivian wouldn't be tall enough to see this, but when I showed her this, she just shrugged. Plenty of evidence the room hadn't been cleaned between guests: the clump of hair, dirty floor, the bath. There was a fridge which was, predictably, filthy inside. All the walls and furniture was quite heavily marked and damaged, like an old student dormitory. The rooms are huge (we were in 102), but as it's air conditioned by a small unit, this becomes a negative because the air con must work harder and takes a while to cool the room down (it wasn't turned on when we arrived, which would have negated this). The room's door is just a normal lockable door, and doesn't lock behind you when leaving. The phone didn't work to call the desk. There is no lift. The curtains couldn't be opened due to a broken mechanism.

The breakfast was excellent. The location within minutes was great.the driver l requested was excelent. I travel a lot because I arrived at 3am everything was more than l expected.

The only thing l did not like was that the hotel did not have an elevator.
