San Anselmo Inn

I loved the area. It is a great change of pace from SF. The hotel is dated but clean. I do not like the phantom check in process. I did not see a single hotel staff member in my 4 days of being there. I went looking for one one day and could not find one. That is seriously annoying. My room was OK but did not have a comfortable chair in it. The wood office chair at the desk needs to be updated. My back ached constantly due to this. I will stay there again in the future.

A short 1 night stay during a motorcycle trip. Great town with boutique shops and some very good restaurants. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. George Lucas created Star Wars while he lived in this town and there are neat statues of some of the characters.

Liked: Friendly staff, convenient check-in and check-out; nicely decorated and clean rooms; excellent location Didn't like: rooms at the back get very little natural light.

Very basic accommodations; clean, quiet and comfortable. Perfect for our needs which was an extended weekend. We will stay again.

What this place has going for it is the location. I think that’s why the price is comparable to 3 star hotels. It’s right downtown, and a 10 minute Uber ride to Deer Park Villa if you’re in town for a wedding. The room itself was awful. I’d compare it to crashing in some kid’s really old and unkept dorm room. If I had another wedding to attend in the area, I’d stay in San Rafael.

Room was small and the TV was not very good. Otherwise, a nice place to stay.

This was supposed to be a special evening. Upon our arrival, there was no receptionist. We had to wander around where we eventually found a waiter in the restaurant next door who told us our key was in an envelope on the small table. Huh? Yes, there was an envelope, but not addressed to us. After several calls to the hotel staff and Hotels.com, we ended up with a small unit with two rooms, one was used for storage of water. Each had a double bed. This was not the one we reserved with a king bed. Normally, Hotels.com send out a email to see how your check-in went. That didn't happen. So, to be fair to the San Anselmo Inn and their coordinator (Benedict) who went overboard to please us over the phone, I hold Hotels.com responsible for this. They could not initially get in contact with the hotel. I paid decent money for a nice room and this was way below expectations. I will be looking for a refund.

Stayed here for a wedding. Booked a queen room. When I arrived with my girlfriend our key was in an envelope with the instructions to a room we didn’t book - double twin. I called the manager on site (who was not present) and rather than acknowledging my complaint and offering a single apology he said “this is an upgrade. If you’re not happy you can leave and we will issue you a full refund.” Horrible customer service. The room itself was tiny, stuffy, no air circulation, and average beds. Overall very disappointing experience and bottom line not what I booked.
