Hostal Cloud Forest

- incredible people who went above and beyond to make our stay the most comfortable and who also gave us lots of good tips and information on the hikes - luggage transfer option available - excepcional breakfast and dinner - sociable atmosphere - wood fired heater in our room

Our stay at Cloud Forest Hostel during the Quilotoa Loop was a great experience after a long day of hiking. It was definitely cold when we arrived, but the amazing staff lit the fireplace in our room, which made all the difference — we warmed up quickly and felt so cozy. One of the absolute highlights was the sauna and steam bath — such a treat after hiking! We loved being able to relax, warm up, and unwind in such a peaceful mountain setting. The meals were okay, simple but filling. Overall, a welcoming and relaxing stop on the loop — perfect for recharging before hitting the trail again!

We were the only ones in the hostel and therefore there wasn't much of an atmosphere but may be we visited in a particularly quiet period

The common areas are ample.

It’s right next to the Amon big road so you can basically hear all cars passing by. They also have a construction site next door so you hear that too. None of the rooms are sound proof so you can also hear your neighbors.. Also, I paid extra because I wanted a private room with a balcony, but their idea of a balcony is different to what you’d expect. They have the private rooms in one corridor with sifting areas and windows, all indoors, and all shared by all rooms, but that’s not a balcony. I also thought I would get Mountain View’s from my windows, but instead I got one view to the inner common area and another view to the staff working house…. Lastly, the food was not that good and mediocre. The whole place felt like a big business with lots of noise and no peace nor views, something I wished to have from a tiny village in the nature.

Erg aardig personeel, we waren zien en ze dachten erg attent met ons mee, maakten zelfs een speciale thee voor ons! Leuke tussenstop.

Helemaal top, zeer vriendelijk ontvangen door de familie die het hostel runt. Fijne kamer met heerlijke warme douche. Ook het diner en ontbijt waren beide voortreffelijk, vooral het bananenbrood is aan te raden.
