"A fantastic place to see wild Costa Rica and great vaue for money"

8.0

This place is beautiful and peaceful. You are in a cottage on a hillside in the clouds. There's plenty to do, including hot springs and mud baths, ziplines, trail rides, hiking, birdwatching. If you're hungry there a very good restaurant, if you need a break, there is a pool. The grounds are well maintained. This being forest, trimming and pruning is almost constant. You are somewhat captive here as there is nothing else anywhere close to here. There's a shop at reception but it has very little. Pack everything you need with you. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are kept very clean. We had AC but we never used it. We spent a week here and did not get bored. We're bird watchers and there are plenty of birds to see on the property, just by walking around. There are animals too including 3 species of monkey, coatis, capybaras, lizards, geckos. There are snakes, but we didn't see any. Two things you should be aware of: 1. The property is spread out and hilly. We got a lot of hill training in! If that's not your gig, the resort has shuttles to take you around. 2. There are a lot of insects around. Bring bug spray and use it. If you want additional protection wear long pants and long sleeves when you're out and when you sit on the patio. 2 things we wish the property provided: More trails we could walk without a guide. And a feeding station for the birds. You will have to keep an eye on the Magpie-Jays. They do like to take food off your table at breakfast!

"A unique and back to nature experience."

7.0

Jose was very helpful by the hot pools and mud bath. Shuttles around property were helpful and necessary as the property was very hilly between accommodations, restaurant, main desk and parking lot. The opportunity was there to horseback ride, hike and zip line. The main (cool) pool was well laid out with an adjacent bar for food and drinks. Very close to nature with spider monkeys swinging in the trees and howlers on the property.

It was very isolated so it was hard to leave once you were there. The road in was a little challenging. Try to avoid in the dark, esp around 5 pm when all the workers we being bussed out. Only one restaurant. There was a lot of uphill walking. Definitely worth a visit for up to a couple of nights as it is so unique and so close to Liberia.

"Unique wildlife in luxury comfort setting"

10.0

The Howler monkeys, bungalow's Kong size bed, Restaurant, pool and it's surroundings.

At first we had difficulty warming up the room as the split was only an air conditioner. The temp was set so cool and compounded with a cool day I was cold. The staff brought blankets and later I came to realize the split was only an air conditioner as heat is not normally needed.

"Delightful retreat"

8.0

A beautiful place for a relaxing getaway. The grounds, pool, mud bath and thermal pools are delightful. You wake up to the howls of howler monkeys, which seem to be on a 5a.m schedule (!). Also, was lucky enough to see a spider monkey, an ant eater, and of course, iguanas abound. Naughty coatis sort out the trash and blue magpies steal the sugar. I had a wonderful massage at the spa, and a fabulous horseback ride to the waterfalls. On the downside, i didn’t enjoy the food or the wine at the restaurant, which was mega expensive, and really not good. They have the monopoly, and there is no where else to eat or drink. But , although the service was good, i really felt I was being ripped off. Unfortunately. Still, it’s a very nice place for families and groups. Don’t recommend it for people traveling solo.
