Inn at St John Portland In-Town

Beautiful building, cute room and friendly staff!

The shower near 10C was awful. It alternated from scalding hot to freezing cold without me touching the nozzle. The bed was also very small for two people to share. Even if I was sharing with my husband, it would have been quite small.

I liked the shared hallway bathroom a lot less than I thought I would, the full size bed was kind of small for my wife and I, and the fact that we had to walk 3 blocks from the shopping mall down the street and then also have to climb 3 flights of stairs with all our stuff.

Nothing- Location was not great, room was not very clean, shared bathroom was not clean and my husband couldn’t stand up in the shower due to low ceilings. Because the hotel takes pets the room and rug smelled awful. Continental breakfast was stale pastries and eating area dirty.

Super pet friendly, there were no pet fees and the staff all seemed to genuinely love dogs. I was surprised that they were able to keep the building in such good condition while maintaining its historical charm. The Inn has the most extensive continental breakfast that I have ever seen, including gf and vegan options.

Parking in the back was limited. I appreciated the fact that they had reserved spots at the strip mall close by, but it was a little annoying. Because of this, and the fact that it is a historical building without an elevator, I would not recommend this place to someone with mobility issues.
