We found this when looking online for a hotel for a get away for the night. It is a big beautiful lodge like hotel. It was a couple of days before Christmas so the entire place was decorated in an amazing way. All the staff was super friendly too. The rates are decent and you get a step above holiday inn. We did pay a little more to get the breakfast vouchers and it also was a step above the average places we usually stay at. We love the feel of the resort- spacious & like going back to 1980 to a special place. There is a restaurant there with a very limited menu. Clean rooms, fireplaces going in common areas, impressed!

"The Closest Cedar Point Comes to a Disney World Resort."

10.0

My family and I absolutely loved our stay at Sawmill Creek! We spent a short 2-night stay at the property in July of 2025. We actually did not go to the park and were here solely to enjoy the resort. It did not disappoint! We were here for a multi-generational family trip with several rooms booked. Each room in our party was spotlessly clean and updated with modern decor and fantastic modern bathrooms. Were it not for the in-room jacuzzi that was a little beat up, this would pass as a brand new property. The common and outdoor areas were absolutely gorgeous with several cozy common seating areas which we used to relax and catch up with family. The resort style indoor and outdoor pools were great ... Perhaps some of the nicest hotel pools I've ever seen at a non-Disney property. We especially loved how the outdoor pool has several of these little built in side areas with seating to relax in. The on-site restaurants were all great although understaffed. The pool bar was particularly understaffed and I felt bad for the bartender who was completely overrun and needed help. Millers Table was similarly understaffed and we noticed that our one waitress was serving pretty much half of the restaurant. I get that staffing issues can be a problem everywhere these days, but it seemed to be a real issue here and surprising given the resources Cedar Point has. The overall vibe of the property gives off a National Parks Lodge feel. My family and I are huge Disney World people and kept comparing it to the Wilderness Lodge. For any fellow Ohioans who know what I'm talking about, it also felt very much like one of the nicer Ohio State Parks lodges and was very similar (and even better!) to the new Hocking Hills Lodge (which is a very very good thing). My one complaint is that the resort is being used for groups in town for sports tournaments. No, I am not complaining about there being kids at a Cedar Point property ... My group included kids. These sports team kids however were running around like absolute maniacs unsupervised and diminished my own kids experience as it was hard to enjoy the pools when we had 30 rowdy little leaguers doing cannonballs in our personal space with no concern for the safety of small children and elderly people. The lack of supervision was clearly their parents / chaperones issue, but I was a little surprised to see Cedar Point utilizing their most upscale resort for sports teams. Isn't that what the Breakers Express or whatever it's called now for? My suggestion (outside of not having sports groups stay at this property) is that they implement a quiet hour at the pool for families with smaller kids, or kids with sensory issues. The rowdiness of the baseball teams continued all night and we had issues sleeping as a few times kids were running up and down the halls knocking on doors and running away. When we woke up in the morning, the hallways were completely trashed. I get that Cedar Point wants to capture the revenue from these groups, but for the rest of our sakes, these teams should have stayed at the Days Inn. I will say that this is one of my top five favorite properties I've ever stayed at, and we look forward to coming back. It was the closest to the gold standard Disney World level quality resort that I've seen at Cedar Point or anywhere around Sandusky, and that is a big deal!
