Sawmill Creek by Cedar Point Resorts

We stayed at Sawmill Creek in Huron, Ohio for three nights during a volleyball tournament. At check-in, I explicitly requested a quiet room and was instead placed next to the noisiest common area of the hotel, with children screaming and adults partying late into the night — an issue clearly reflected in many other reviews. What happened next is far more troubling. Despite having a Do Not Disturb sign on our door for our entire stay, housekeeping entered our room while we were not present and set our alarm clock to go off at 6:00 a.m. We never used or set the alarm at any point. This was not an isolated incident. The exact same thing happened to at least two other guests on different teams, each of whom also had Do Not Disturb signs displayed and whose alarm clocks went off at exactly 6:00 a.m. the same morning. After being woken up at 6:00 a.m., a male housekeeper opened our door again at 8:00 a.m., waking us a second time — three hours before checkout. Thankfully, I was in the room, as my 14-year-old daughter was asleep. I immediately reported this to the front desk and was casually told it was a “mistake.” Entering an occupied guest room multiple times with a Do Not Disturb sign displayed is not a mistake — it is a serious breach of privacy and guest safety. To make matters worse, housekeeping carts and equipment were loudly pushed through the halls throughout the day and evening, making rest nearly impossible. The hotel also does not provide basic cable, meaning channels like NBC and ESPN were unavailable — disappointing during a major national event like the Olympics. I made multiple attempts to contact the hotel’s manager, Matthew Watson, and received no response whatsoever. This property shows little respect for guest privacy, safety, or basic comfort. If you value a quiet stay or personal security, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

The property is conveniently located off Cleveland Road in Huron, Oh. Beautiful grounds and a quiet and clean place! The hot tub was a welcome sight and the pool was warm and inviting! The staff were friendly and welcoming. We had a fireplace in our room and it was very cozy!

The L O N G walk to the pool from our room in the Cedars. They do provide a map and it was very helpful.

Beautiful lobby- I’m sure the grounds are beautiful too but our stay was winter so it was snowy- that was pretty too.

No coffee in lobby or in rooms- quicker to drive to a restaurant than to find the store that sells it here in the maze of rooms. Parking lots needed attention- it hadn’t snowed that day and many parking spots were not cleared off and it was super icy to walk on.

Stayed many times at sawmill it’s always a good stay, clean and convenient.

Room smelled of either mildew or mold and unfortunately I didn’t sleep well because it affected my breathing.
