Sorell Hotel Rütli Niederdorf Zürich

The room was not what we requested. The staff claimed we asked for two children under 2 so they gave us a room with portable cots. When booking through Expedia I put the kids ages 7, 9 in so there was something off in the reservation process…. They removed the cots and gave us 1 mattress. Far from ideal but best they could do apparently. Rest of stay was good. Breakfast included was very convenient for us.

I think I got bed bug bites from this hotel. When I was packing up to leave I noticed a brown stain on the sheet. Could have been blood or chocolate. I didn't think much of it at the time. But according to online resources "early sign of bed bugs are bloodstains on your sheets". This paired with bites appearing on my arms and legs doesn't feel like a coincidence.

Air conditioning system old and recycled warm air, no cooling. They even have a printed note in your room about it. When I turned it up the noise was like a motorbike trying to start. They know about it but just apologies and was told to open my window! I slept on top of the duvet as the bed sheet was rough. Breakfast was okay, no bacon or sausage etc. They offer falafel! Never seen that before…

Sorell Hotel Rütli was a convenient place to stay with access to lots of restaurants, cafes, and historic Old Town. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. We would stay here again.

We stayed only one night but wishing we had more time. Zurich has small town feel in a big city. Public transportation is so easy ! Hotel breakfast was much more than pastry and we appreciated that service.

Location, Air conditioning, cleanliness, staff

Nice hotel within a short walk from the train station. Very close to an area with cafes, restaurants and stores. Around the corner from a “polybahn” that takes you up the hill for a beautiful panoramic view of the city.

Welcoming receptionist and nearness to the main station

Small but nice place, close to train station and downtown. We walked everywhere. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Much appreciated, thank you! Breakfast was good with a wide variety of offerings. Like many places we found it did not have AC (and it was quite warm and humid when we visited). But the open window and fan helped.
