DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh - Queensferry Crossing

The hotel itself was lovely and the staff went above and beyond. Really stand-out service! Breakfast was amazing, and vegan options too, which is always a bonus. Looking out onto the bridges first thing on a bright morning was wonderful.

Walking to the hotel from the station was quite hard, as there’s a lot of stairs. Would have been good to know so we could have gotten a taxi from the station to the hotel.

Couldn’t fault the room. Beds were cosy, lovely large room and bed. Had issue with having to pay £7 parking to stay at the hotel as haven’t before. This seriously puts me off staying again. You shouldn’t need to pay for parking to stay at a hotel. Had our wedding reception there 29 years ago and like to return every now and then. Unfortunately we won’t be back. Just today, received a parking fine due to overstaying my time in their car park. Called them and they've cancelled the charges thankfully. Suggested I may have only selected 12 hours parking when registering instead of 24. When you are checking in and needing to do this that and the next thing, it’s an easy mistake to make. £100 fine or £60 if you pay within 14 days. What a nonsense. My food in the restaurant was terrible. Stroganoff. I did decide to send it back and had the pasta instead, which was a bit more palatable. Sausages and bacon at breakfast was anemic. I'm not a fan of dining tables with grooves in them and if you look closely at the grooves, it’s quite disturbing. I don’t think they'd be black grooves originally. Need a thorough clean. They must harbour so much bacteria. I question why dining tables are made with grooves at all. So much so, I didn’t want to lean my arms on them, never mind my cutlery.

Parking was charged even for guests. No water in the room, so many light switches some of which didn’t do anything

Nice location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable. Decent value for hotel 15 minutes from Edinburgh airport.

I was charged £7 to park in an almost empty car park. This is a scam. It is not a city hotel it's basically the middle of nowhere. Also at dinner we ordered our starters and mains. Halfway through eating our starters the mains arrived. Instead of saying sorry your still at your starters we will bring the mains back, the mains were forced down on the table and left there.

Only thing was paying for the parking. Understand its only £7 but after paying £175 I would think the parking would be free for guests.
