Sunshine Mountain Lodge

This is ski-in/ski-out lodging at its very best. My son and I stayed here for a week and loved every minute of it. I’ve skied for 60 years at resorts all over North America and this was my first trip to Banff. The lift is 50 feet from the door, just down the hall from the ski lockers. All the staff that we encountered; front desk, bell, wait, retail, spa and cleaning were very polite and professional. The food is very good and I particularly enjoyed the double smash burger and tomato bisque. Skiing starts at the top of the 3 mile gondola, where the lodge sits. This is the only lodging on the mountain with the alternative being a room in Banff, drive to the parking lot and ride up the gondola. That saves you at least an hour travel time on each end of the day. We will definitely return.

There wasn’t much to not like

If I could get zero stars I would. Me and my family were trying to get back up to sunshine on a very cold day. However due to sunshine’s negligence we were left waiting outside in the freezing cold temperatures for over 30 minutes with our children. This is absolutely ridiculous. Our children almost got frost bite the depot wasn’t even open for waiting due to renovations so we were freezing. The bus came at exactly 3:28pm when it was meant to be arriving at 2:45pm. Do better.

Stunning property surrounded by nature. Breathtaking views, great skiing conditions, clean rooms and excellent service by friendly staff. Loved it!

The view was lovely.

The room was ok. Would have preferred 2 beds. The trundle took up space when it was made up. The room was a little on the small size.
