Staff were very helpful throughout my stay. The hotel is conveniently situated for the tram. It is also within walkable distance of the old city.

"Average stay "

6.0

We booked an executive apartment. The location was great, only 15 min walk to the centre of Lille & 10 min walk to local butcher, bakery etc. The staff was nice & helpful & moved us to a safer & more appropriate apartment as we were traveling with a 15 months old baby. Unfortunately, most of the apartment are unsafe with a toddler, the stairs leading to the bedroom are very steep. Other negative points - the heating & hot water was hit & miss, they only clean the apartment if you stay more than a week & you have to ask for toilet paper. The kitchen is a good size but with very few utensil or equipment (I.e no toaster). The car park is safe but space between each vehicle is tight.

"Solid Choice for Budget Travellers"

10.0

This one ticked all the boxes for me: great value for money, close to city centre, close to public transportation, nice room and really good paid breakfast available if you haven't managed to shop ahead of arrival. Kitchen is tiny and basic but definitely workable -- cookware/dishware included for two people. Good size bed and bathroom. Only problem I had was getting there the first time. Directions could have been clearer (confusing on google maps and not enough "clues" from either property or booking.com). When I finally figured it out, I was amazed by how easy it was! It's only one tram stop from Europe Lille (main bus/train station). When you get off tram T2 (direction Turcoing or Roubaix) at ROMARIN, you are only two blocks from hotel. AND there's a small shop nearby, so you can take advantage of that tiny kitchen in your room!

"Appart'city Lille"

8.0

no restuarants close by to eat at - they all shut before 8pm - its mainly an area for offices so the reastauarts probably do their business at lunchtime. hotel is basic - my room was clean and very spacious but in need of updating. very comfortable double bed. breakfast surprisingly good value.

"Pictures not accurate at all"

4.0

We had to ask a local in a cafe for directions as the address is not recognised by our GOS or Google - he drove in his car while we followed. On arrival we were told that the parking facility was full even though we had emailed to request parking. On opening the door to our "apartment" it smelt of old cigarette smoke. Rom was very small, bed very small for two, bathroom was a bit shabby. Only one bedside table and plugs are right in the corners of the room so made charging devices a bit difficult. The images advertised show contemporary, bright rooms but do not in any way reflect what you are getting. No air conditioning, so had to have balcony door open which meant getting bitten by mosquitoes and hearing traffic at night. Bed comfortable but odd, lumpy pillows. Room was not cleaned once in our 3 night stay. Lift out of order at various times of the day, as we were on the 7th floor and I had a knee injury it was very inconvenient. Easy to get to central Lille by tram - only two stops away. We took our bikes but got lost and even the local people did not recognise the address on the map provided by staff as it was inaccurate. Sadly would not recommend. The staff were very helpful and accommodating which was the only good thing about our stay.

"clean and quiet but very, very basic"

4.0

I stayed here over several weeks, in a “superior” (i.e., slightly larger) apartment. The room was clean but very basic in the quality of furnishings and equipment -cutlery that seemed to be made of tin, plastic chairs, shoddy bathrom tiling... The overall impression is that the place was not well thought through and no effort had been made to provide a nice atmosphere or any hint of style. In other words, totally devoid of comfort or charme. In the entrance hall – which could have benefited from a coat hook or two to hang one’s coat when wet- there was an OK- sized wardrobe (but no lockable safe!) Next to that was a kitchen corner, which was minimalist to the extreme: Equipped with the bare necessities (microwave, coffee maker, water heater, small fridge) and very basic and not particularly nice cutlery/crockery, two mugs but no water glasses and there was no space to prepare food or store any groceries. The bathroom was spacious and adequately ventilated. There was a very basic shelf under the sink. The sink, toilet and bathtub were past their best but clean. The floor tiles had chinks and there were gaps where they were supposed to join the bath tub: It all looked like a botched job by some French bricoleur. The main room was clean and spacious and the large bed had a good, if slightly sagging, mattress. There was a desk, a small dining table, and a minuscule night table on just one side of the bed. There was no bedside lighting and just one lamp; I had to shift it around between providing light at the desk for work during the day to serving as bedside light at night. Eventually I asked reception for a second lamp. There were a couple of simple plastic chairs, but not, as one normally gets in aparthotels catering to longer stays, any “comfortable” sitting option such as a sofa or a lounger. The small-ish flat-screen TV was too far from the bed to allow for comfortable watching, so one had to perch on one of the plastic chairs if one wanted to watch TV. In all, it had a Spartan, basic and quite un-cosy appearance, whoever furnished the place clearly had not given much thought to making it nice or comfortable. Reception staff were OK-ish; there was one very nice and helpful lady, the others were at times bordering on the stand-offish. Reception closes for a couple of hours at lunchtime every day (this is France!!) and is not manned at night. The place itself is located in a quiet street in the modernist new part of La Madeleine (concrete, glass and steel and no soul), three minutes from the tram station and within walking distance of pubs, a good restaurant (Le Romarin) and a small supermarket. It’s a quiet location without traffic noise but rooms to the back get the intermittent noise of a howling extractor fan on one of the adjacent office buildings. In sum, it was quiet and clean but I was not impressed with the equipment of the place. Not necessarily very good value for money.

"STAY AT CAMPANILE OVER THE ROAD!!!!"

2.0

So... We arrived at 7.06pm on Saturday night due to severe delays on Le Shuttle. Even though we had pre-paid for the hotel , it was closed and no way of getting in! Thankfully a fellow guest allowed us in with a code she had. Reception empty, lights off,no one there. We tried the number to call out of hours which was not working, neither was the emergency number displayed! We had no access to our rooms! We tried knocking on the reception doors everything, no answer, no humans! In utter despair we walked across the road to try and book into the Campanile, with lovely staff and very friendly (and similar price per room per night may i add) but sadly they could not accomodate a family of three but very kindly allowed us to eat in their restaurant as sympathised with our situation. Finally after going back and waiting in reception, a man came in who had booked and it turns out as he hadnt booked in, he received an email with a code for the front door and the safe to be able to access his room keys! This we never received but they had our email address as had previously emailed us. Upon hearing commotion of us thanking this man profusely, a woman comes out of the reception door and very rudely stated "we are closed". Upon showing her the booking email and explaining we never received any codes, she kept repeating "it is not my problem, we are closed". My husband walked me away with keys in hand from the safe with our saviour, the kind stranger staying at the hotel. Well... then we arrived at our room, on the 6th floor, an apartment. We were greeted by freezing cold temperatures. The window was broken, a hug crack in the glass and it had warped. Thankfully from my husbands brute force, we were able to close it. Then we realised even though we have booked for 2 adults and a child, there was no made bed for our daughter! We made do with the mattress of the sofa and spare bedding found around the room, with the cushions from the sofa downstairs. Then i entered the bathroom, and all i wanted to do was cry. There was a pink line of scum around the bath, a black grit like dirt covering the bottom, chunks in the baths enamel missing leaving black marks. IT HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED. We decided we had no choice but to sleep there and escape as early as possible. Then came the icing on the cake! Upon check out, they claimed we had to pay additional money called "City Tax", which was never mentioned at the point of booking. Surely this should have been included in the price when we paid up front weeks ago???? DISGUSTING HOTEL, DISGUSTING ATTITUDE FROM STAFF!!
