Brookside Motor Inn

The brook behind the property is spectacular. Being able to sit on the veranda and listen to the flowing water was relaxing. The rooms were comfortable and homey.

Room was clean enough, but old. The grounds had not been taken care of. There was no staff that I could see.

It was nice could update a bit but other that that it was comfortable and quiet would stay again

Great hotel

It's an old building, old and worn furnishings. But very clean, which is most important. I received a text from the motel the morning of the day I was scheduled to arrive, telling me my room number, the code to enter on the door to open it, and that checkout time was 11 am. When I arrived the code worked fine. The office was closed even though it was only 5 pm. There was a sign on the door saying "out of office, please ring bell if you need service". I had what I needed so I didn't ring the bell. The office was closed the next day, although in the evening a light was on. Next morning when I left, the office was still closed with the same note on the door. So I never saw a single employee during my entire stay! The office was in a big dark house right next to the motel, no lights on inside although there were many outside lights strung up in a decorative manner. My room had a glass back door that opened to a path that went the length of the building, the rest was woods. The door had a thin curtain on it and I have this thing about people or creatures looking in at me at night, so I hung one of the large bath towels on the door to provide privacy. I can't complain at all, this was the cheapest motel in the entire area. They gave me what I wanted so if you don't want to speak to anyone and you want to save money, this motel will do you good.

The furniture used for the “living room” was a wicker outdoor couch and a busted kitchen table chair was used for the recliner. The bathroom smelled like someone had been smoking cigs in there for a week prior to us showing up. The whole place smelled like that but it was bad in the bathroom. There was mold in the cabinet that held the kitchen dishes. Most of the outlets didn’t work, plus one of the outlets had what looked like plastic broken in it. All the furniture felt damp. I could go on but those are the main points.

We were very comfortable with our stay! WE had plenty of room and everything was clean and met all our needs and then some.

I've known this place for years, I even knew the previous owner. The hotel is always clean and friendly. The owners are very kind. they have a nice layout - there are 2 rooms, 3 beds, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen connected to the dining room. on the 2nd side of the street you can eat the best breakfast in the north (highly recommended!!!) the hotel is in a good location - close to lake placid, keene valley and keene. around major high peaks
